Do You Suffer From Bad G.A.S
Admitting you have a problem is the first step to recovery they say.
But not for G.A.S
Gun
Aquisition
Syndrome
Hi I'm Dick and I like to buy guns.
Especially if they are left handed.
I've owned more firearms that I can't remember half of them.
Anyone else want to join the newest chapter of G.A.S Anonymous ?

Hi Dick, can I join? I find that as I age all I want to do is buy more guns.
I've got this list in my head of makes/calibres that I'm always watching out for.
I think I need help!

GAS is insideous. I have the rotating form - I sell my vault queens to buy more guns and repeat as often as possible. Now trying to slow the cycle down by buying expensive quality guns.
Look at it this way, it keeps us GAS sufferers out of most trouble.

So if a guy has cold sweats if he hasn't scored a buy for a while, keeps a stash of cash for "emergency" purchases, and has the local gun dealer's phone # on speed dial, that's bad???

You been watching me?
The only thing more drasstic is when more than ONE dealer has YOU on speed dial, or knows your voice when he picks up the phone!
I buy and sell so many that I sometimes get tangled up in who is aquiring /selling what!!

Yes M70 thats us......the 1st step to recovery is the denial!
For years I was a "One gun Man", not sure what happened or where I strayed. It is a sickness, or maybe a Disease. I'm unsure of the Cure, but I'll admit I'm not really interested in fighting it!!

Admitting Adict
Yeah, so what, I bought 4 new rifles in 2004, one in 2005, one in 2006, and maybe a new Sako model 75 Greywolf right away plus a new XD40 pistol.
Easier to buy and ask for forgiveness, than it is to ask to buy it and get told NO!! RIGHT??? Come on guys be honest. It was last years rifle purchase (Bought in May) that ruffled the Miss's feathers a bit when she seen it in the gun ssafe this past winter when I took it out predator hunting.- all I said it was for our to be born child ( we had a boy in June) for their rifle (Sako m75SS 243-very gently used-how could I pass it up)
The new pistol will be a for sure, the Greywolf rifle is for a project rifle (338-06) that may be put on hold b/c I need (WANT) a new bow. My wife said sell your old bow fist, then.....we can talk.

I grew out of the full auto fetish about 18 to 20 years back.
It seemed fun until you had to pack all the ammo along with your other kit, such as a ruck sack(loaded), webbing, helmet, and oh yea and a C2.

I like em all
From Big un's ( 458WM) to Little un's ( 223 and smaller) ...bolt, pump, semi auto and single shot. LH and RH, SS or blued, synthetic or wood, target rifles, hunting rifles, plinking rifles, black powder, military rifles... I got G.A.S baaaddd!!! I went to my first sporting clay shoot in Cowtown a few months ago and now I "need" a new shotgun. There's already six in the lockups but ...just not meeting the "need" right now. Some I've had for 25 years , some I just got. I actually have three rifles in the cupboard I havent even had time to take to the range yet!!
Some have been built to fit a specific type of hunting, many are cross overs, some are for specific types of shooting matches, some were just "a good deal" at the time.
My preferance is for single shots and I think I "need" to try out a new TC, wonder what calibre I "need"

You may have G.A.S. if you...........
1. Have ever had to sneak a gun into the house before you ended up telling your wife about it.
2. Hope that your income tax refund will be enough to cover the cost of a new rifle or shotgun.
3. Never give a definite number to the guns in your locker when asked.
4. Look in the Buy and Sell flyer for something else but end up phoning about the good deal on the 12 gauge for sale.
5. Have ever phoned a friend from a gun show to ask his opinion on whether that rifle for sale is a good deal.
6. Have ever been phoned by a friend on whether the gun for sale at the show is a good deal.
7. Have ever contemplated which gun in your cabinet will be sacrificed for your next purchase.
8. Have ever decided that you will never get your money's worth on the gun up for sacrifice and decide to buy the new gun anyway.
9. Have ever daydreamed about converting an entire room into a fortified space for your hobby.
10. Have ever purchased a youth model rifle/shotgun for your child that is still in diapers.

I hear GAS develops into full blown S.A.G.A.S (severe acute). The only treatment known to delay the transition is Liberal media.

Whenever I hear this line of thought, I remember a Patrick Mc Manus story, I read some years ago. It involves hiding the fact from your wife, that you have aquired another firearm. The trick involves having an expandable gun cabinet, that can be adjusted to always have one empty slot. The trusting Little woman comes along and rather than bothering with counting the vast arsenal, sees there is still one slot left, so all must be the same as the last time she checked.
