Skeena and Kitimat river fishing

So I am planning on taking a trip to the Prince Rupert and Kitimat areas in a couple weeks to do some river fishing for salmon. I have never done this before but would love to learn. I would not likely be fly fishing. I would be thrilled if anyone could share any tips regarding this. Gear? Lures? Places to fish and camp? Techniques? Places to purchase gear and licences in that area? People to contact? Guides that may be interested in taking someone out? (Although I would prefer DIY). Basically any info you can give.
