Default The "If it Saves One Life" Challenge

I was pondering the absurdity of firearm bans based on what criminals do with them so I thought "how many people were murdered with guitars? And should we ban them too?". The 'guitar as a weapon' search made sense to me to debate two musician anti's that I know

Here's the Google results, #2 being particularly disturbing:

https://www.google.ca/search?source=...=1576859473860

The challenge is to think up anything a person might be murdered with and to post the results. It will make interesting trivia fodder for debating Anti's.

Google: Murdered with a __________ and post your results!

Looks like the result order changes. I clicked the link again and now the 'sodomized with a guitar' murder is at the top rather than 2nd. What kind of people would do that, seriously? And how, tuning pegs being a thing and all? EEP

Thumbs up My personal favourite...Frozen Squirrel

Everyone who was around for the Lieberals attack on firearms in the 90's should remember this story from 1991. While it did not end in a death, it was widely publicized by the NFA in their attempt to discredit Allan Rock's flagrant attack on law abiding gun owners at the time.

Quote:
In 1991, frozen squirrels were used to bludgeon a woman in Sacramento, California. Kao Khae Saephan, an immigrant from Laos, repeatedly struck his wife with six frozen squirrels he retrieved from the family freezer, rendering the poor woman unconscious. (As to why the couple had these rodents in their freezer, it’s because squirrel meat is a component of some Laotian dishes.) The irate husband was jailed on suspicion of spousal abuse, and Mrs. Saephan filed for divorce.

Real life examples only please, movie & TV scenarios need not apply (even though that’s where most Anti’s got their firearms knowledge, from the likes of wildly exaggerated special effects and such)

Opioids kill far more people than guns do....... oh ya they are essentially banned unless you’re a vetted expert!

Alcohol kills far more people than guns do..... oh wait there once was a prohibition on booze too

Distracted driving kills more people than guns do......... hey let’s ban cell phones......

The sooner we realize this has nothing to do with crime or saving lives, the sooner we can begin to dis educate the sheep....... fat chance, btw.

Drowning is one of the hardest homicides to prove. These investigators want to change that.

It should be noted that two of my posts originate in the UK - a country notorious for its strict gun laws. Yet people seemed to find a way to mill each other anyway.

I worked with a guy that came home drunk just as his wife was putting some food in the deep freeze when he stumbled through the door she threw a frozen Cornish game hen striking him in the head.
He was hospitalized with a fractured skull after 6 weeks first 2 in a coma he pulled through, she was charged with assault pleaded guilty and was put on probation.

Anything can be used as weapon.

When he returned to work we told him he was lucky it wasn't thanksgiving a turkey would've killed him for sure

How many people die from Heroin, meth and black market fentanyl?
Maybe they should consider banning these if they want to save lives...

Exclamation Dangerous religious symbols

A crucifix has been used as a murder weapon. Obviously, it's only a matter of time until another religious icon is used in such a heinous fashion. They should all be kept under lock and key in suitable religious institutions.
Quote:
Karen Walsh beat Maire Rankin to death with crucifix in Newry
A woman has been found guilty of murdering her elderly neighbour in the early hours of Christmas Day 2008.

Karen Walsh, 45, a pharmacist, had denied murdering Maire Rankin, 81, in her Newry home.

Exclamation Mustn't forget our favourite vegetarians

Although I could not find a story where a cow was used as a murder weapon, we must not underestimate how dangerous they are on their own.
Quote:
Cows officially the most deadly large animals in Britain
An agricultural committee is to keep the public and farm workers safe from cows after they were revealed to be the most dangerous large animals in Britain.

According to figures from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), 74 people have been killed by cows in the past 15 years.

I have the solution when it comes to guitars. We will ban Jackson guitars, because they have pointy headstocks and are more likely to kill somebody and they look scary, but guitars with round headstocks, such as Fenders, will stay non restricted.

If it saves one life , you will never drive a car, you will never have a drink or go for a swim. You will never board a plane or go on have a cigarette or smoke pot . If you never did any of these things you might save a life but you wouldn’t have a life to live.

I remember a story about a guy having a romantic encounter with an electric vibrating sander that he had placed between the couch cushions. He got electrocuted and they found his "date" in the couch. Because of this guy we might have to all of our sanding by hand...

When Albion sands was under construction a pipe fitter foreman reported two guys for smoking dope in the pipe rack .
He got paid a visit at his room that night and when he opened the door one of them sunk the claws of a 22oz Estwing hammer into his head.
I can only imagine thee guy was dead before he hit the floor.

Making suicide more difficult is often cited as a reason to ban guns in the home.
However there are other items that we should look at banning.
