Yet Another Draw Question

I already 999ed a bunch of draws. However, I wanted to attempt to get a calf moose draw and did not apply the first time so I am going to put in for a draw soon. I just wanted something clarified because I have not found the answer online. If there is a WMU that is not listed in the draw choices, what does that mean? Does that mean that the big game that are in that area are not huntable at all? Alternatively, does that mean that anybody can buy a tag without a draw for that animal?

The reason I ask is because I wanted to apply for a draw for calf moose in a specific WMU and it is not listed. I am not sure if that means I just need a general tag for it or if you just can't hunt calf moose in that WMU.

It means there is no season for calf moose in that zone.

Yes and also be aware that if you applied (even 999) for antlered or antlerless moose, then you cannot also apply for calf.

Too bad it is this way. You can apply for archery, Trophy and Non-trophy antelope and will only be drawn for one of them.

You make a good point duffy....I wonder why it's that way with moose and elk? longer wait times maybe? I dont know....???

You think from the government makeing extra $$$$ on draw fees they would be all for it! its usally all about money with the conservative governments!

If you dont see a season in that WMU keep scolling down. Some zones have split seasons so the WMU will not be listed but the "draw code" will be what you are looking for.
That said, I dont believe that there are any calf moose seasons that are split seasons.
