Default Any truth to this..??

Just got this pic in an email....Alaska pipeline with a bullet hole ??



Just learned from another forum that it did indeed happen....in 2001.
Guy shot it with a .338...was caught and charged. Thought to be alcohol-related.

Seems like a lot of oil coming out of there, to be a bullet hole, unless it was a .50BMG

Yup looks like it was true. If you do a Google search you will come up with lots of news stories on it. It happened back in October 2001.

I had always wondered what would happen in such an instance. Am also curious about a .338 Lapua or a .50 BMG vs a large propane tanker.... but I'll limit it to wondering....

Years ago in gasfitting class we got to watch videos of controlled BLEVY's, pretty close to what would happen I'm sure.

16 years is a short time compared to the damage that it has caused to the land and the wildlife.
