I have a conspiracy theory on that!! .. Its just like gun registration, only you don't have to give a serial #

I would bet that that will be changed to a primitive weapons permit soon. I think the way it is set up now is unfair to archers.

I sure hope not, I kind of like the status quo. Maybe muzzle loaders & crossbows should be required to have their own permits instead. I think that would be fair. That would also serve the purpose of accurately pinning down the number of hunters and which weapons they are using.

in the 70s we used to get a bow permit and a tag this tag we could shoot what ever big game animal we wanted bear deer elk moose antlered antlerles didnt matter and then we got our regular tags for rifle so in actuality we could get an archery moose and a rifle moose or deer or elk it worked very well
then as archery got more popular we it was changed to we had to have a tag for what ever we were going to hunt like it is now
i think if archery was such a big hit wth the invention of compound bows and if the sucsess rate wasnt so good it may have never changed

In many of the northern zones you can hunt starting in Sept, with a rifle. Question: Do you still need the permit if you only hunt in Nov, with your bow?

My point exactly, so you arent buying the right to hunt for 2 extra months. I think its a money grab pure and simple, but that doesnt change the fact that you still need it, and for $10 its not worth getting upset over.
