Someone give me some letters behind my name so I can make overinflated statements and get away with it too!

Maybe if you had some letters behind your name you wouldn't dismiss this article out of hand. It was in the NP this am as well and it will be airing on CBC "The National" tonight I think.

How can you discredit something without facts? Facts disclose the truth. If you can prove this article to be a hoax then you should do so. I find myself agreeing with it.........it makes sense.

Very interesting read and I do believe there is merit to what they are saying.

There is some merit to what they are saying. I'm just waiting on the recommendations about what to do. Personally I'm not a big trophy hunter, but I ain't taking no sick or very old animal either lol.

Good article. Makes sense. No need for hunters to feel threatened by it.

I believe in Ont. you can by a calf moose licence but have to draw for limited numbers of bull or cow tags. Like a farmer with a beef heard, the young (calves) are the harvestable surplus part of the population. The adult proven breeders are the segment of the population that needs to be maintained in good numbers(with some recrutment of course). Then there will always be a healthy heard and a harvestable surplus..

Maybe if the gov't of Alberta buys into this, we will see some restructuring in the way of Elk tags. If you look in the Nordegg area, cows are on a limited draw, or have no season at all. Meanwhile a 3 or 6 pt bull is available on a general tag in many areas.

Don't take this as a threat guys, moreso as a study we can use to improve our management techniques and develop better opportunities for meat and trophy hunting province wide.

I re-read the article (after I woke up this morning) and yeah yeah, you guys are right. It does have some value there. Although I do see that having (B.S.) behind my name can be rather fitting most days.

This is not a new theory by any means.
I remeber biologists and scientists such as Dr. Val Geist, Charles kroll, Leonard Lee Rue, etc., explaining this numerous times since I was a boy.

basiclly, if you shoot all the big bears in an area, you end up in a generation or two with a whole mess of big eared, skinny bars!
It's quite a bit more complicated than that mind you, but that is the gist of it......
