Default Where to find a deer skull plaque

Hi All:

I have searched on-line and called a few local taxidermists to find a european style plaque for a W/Tail deer skull without much success here in Edmonton. I am not too handy with a saw to make my own but does anyone have a suggestion where I could pick-up a few locally? I only want the plaque for a wall mount, not the stand or a cleaning kit. Thanks.

Austin

Austin, I am also doing a European mount on my 2007 whitetail but will be using a small pedastal mount for mine, material will be solid oak,but could buid it out of whatever.
If you send me the size ,shape, etc of what you want I could build it for the cost of wood and shippping,PM me if you are interested as I will be building mine shortly so will give you an idea what it will cost you.

I do a "european" sckull mount on all my deer that aren't mounted. Whart I usually get for a wood plaque is a nice cheap wood cutting board from the kitchen ware section of a dept. store. They are cheep, about the right size and if you pick through them you can find a nice looking wood grain.

Hey Mulestalker:

Great looking plaque truly a trophy. Thanks again for the help. I chose to stain mine in a natural oak color but seeing yours, maybe a darker stain for the others.

Those are very traditional European mount plaques there CalgaryChef.
Here's another one with an antelope:

Default plaque

Thumper I know who carved that one!!! I have a few of his too, but now I carve the easy ones like I showed. I still get him to carve his extra fancy plaques for my nice stuff.

thanks for sharing

Default Burl Mount

I mentioned some time ago that I was playing around with a burl slab as a deer antler plaque. Well, here it is. I got it done. I put on it a set of Muley antlers I had from many years ago (notice the metal tag). I thought they would compliment the burl because of their shape and color. Kind of a different look.
