Sort of happening in Canada look at C71 if that gets passed, but no where in there does it say a BAN on semi-automatics but certain rifles like the CZ-858 will be on the chopping block to goto prohibited.. The scary part is giving RCMP 100% control of classification of firearms.

It wouldn't be a surprise to see the desperate Liberal's use a ban for the election, they slid into power by luring pot smokers out to vote last time.
The definition of military-style semi-automatic and assault rifles will be interesting.

Gun Control Australia president Samantha Lee says Australia's laws will still be stronger in this regard because New Zealand's ban only covers military-style semi-automatics.
"That leaves out quite a wide variety of very serious other semi-automatics that can be easily converted into military-style firearms," she said.

It’s super f-omg traumatic. If you haven’t seen it, PM me and I’ll send you a link... after watching it, you’ll have ZERO doubt: a semi automatic ban IS coming.
You and i and other gun owners can and will tell the general public that they are in less danger from law abiding firearms owners as opposed to a simple drive to the grocery store, but literally ANYONE in the basically uneducated public won’t care if they’ve seen the video.
Heck, i even watched it and thought to myself “WHY wasn’t that prevented??” But from what i understand, he bought the guns legally. And that’s the only thing Mr and Mrs Public are going to hear.
Semi-auto ban is coming.

I try not to worry too much yet, but I think we all know something is going to change with our current gun laws. The Libs need a distraction really bad, so the timing for the New Zealand Murders couldn't be worse for us.
I'm hoping that the time for passing Bill 71 runs out before it becomes law. Not sure what the next election holds federally, let's face it, if the Libs have a sniff of power we're (gun owners) are in deep trouble. Hopefully voters in "Battleground Ontario / Quebec" have seen enough of our current clown in charge and he gets tossed, but the stupidity of some people never surprises me.
If there is a semi-auto ban, will it mean buy backs, grandfathering, outright seizures, mass non-compliance, or....? Who knows yet. I'm not naive enough to know that something isn't about to change, but in my opinion our best hope is to toss the Libs next election, and sadly, that is not really in our control due to population.

Apparently I read something you guys haven't. NZ will ban all semis with removable magazines, yet allow rifles with non removable storage of under 5 rounds.
Future plans of the Liberals were leaked a couple of years ago. But it was largely called bull crap. The only way to not be surprised in this world is to know your enemy, secretly join the other side and play along. Be a loyal fan and dumb people's mouths will run, learned lots from the Nazi my former employer hired about the 3%.
The Liberal group I met aren't much more closed mouthed.

I doubt that many anti gun leftists would intentionally watch the video and for a number of reasons. Firstly is that a high percentage of them are pretty squeamish. Most of them have no interest in watching non-movie violence (nor do I really, though I’ll make an exception for YouTube videos of police shooting violent criminals or military footage of roadside bombers being liquified by an AH-64 Apache through its FLIR camera. But slaughter of innocents? No bloody thanks, I don’t need that imagery haunting me in my dreams).
Take for example the recent video of Conservative MP Glen Motz and Liberal MP Marco Mendocino meeting at the shooting range where Mendocino refused to even hold a firearm that was already proven clear by Motz (a farm boy who has retired from a full career spent in policing and thus knows a thing or two about firearms), Mendocino wouldn’t even touch it never mind shoot it. They had a female film crew staffer who had more testicles than Marco give it a try and she was smiling. It’s that kind of guttural fear that drives a lot of these anti’s. It’s like Howard Hughes was with germs, it’s an irrational and compulsive fear to be too scared to even hold one. My Dad had even implanted this irrational idea in me as a kid to where I was scared to even look at the guns on the wall in a sporting goods store as though they were porn magazines that I shouldn’t have been looking at. I wanted to look, but the cultivated guilt was there nagging me not to. I learned better afterwards.

My take on Sage's offer is the real info is out there. Our parents anxiously waited for the paper to come to read about earlier wars or events, this is just the modern delivery medium. An horrific event to be sure, what humans do to humans never ceases to amaze me.
I don't like violence in movies either, we know stuff happens.
I haven't asked him to send me the link yet, need to think it over.
