Default 35 Whelen 225gr. bullets

Hello. A little while ago I got a 35 Whelen. I've been working up a load with RL15, 225gr. Sierra gameking, and CCI250 primers. It shoots accurately and fast.

Does anybody have any experience with these bullets on game?

I've read in a few places guys prefer the 250gr. bullets in the Whelen, but I wanna give these a shot.

Thanks for your time, Eric

It will be interesting to see the feedback from guys that have used them in the Whelen. I'm shooting the 250g Speer Hotcors, they work ok. I tried 225g partitions and couldnt get nearly as good of groups. Velocity wise I think my 225's were around 2700 with RL-15. I can only offer opinion on them, and I would say they will be fine, but would still try to avoid heavy bone. I'm going to try hornady interlocks when I'm out of the speers, I think they are one of the strongest conventional bullets around. Good luck with your load and keep us posted on their performance.

From what I've gathered from other sites, and a PM here, the SGK tends to be a good deer bullet, but that's where it stops. I have some 225gr. Nosler Accubonds, 250gr. Hornady IL SP, and 250gr. Hornady IL RN. I'll try them and keep the Sierras for lighter stuff.

Thanks

I tried the 225 Nosler Partitions and I got excellent groups but couldn't seem to get enough speed and a good group at the same time.I was around 2400fps and got under an inch group, once I went hotter the groups opened up.I never did try 250's,I have stuck with the 200 gr Barnes TSX and I have managed to keep groups along with velocity.
