I guess you can call it an excuse, but they were definitely major factors in the outcome of the series. These missed calls occurred in 1 goal games and even in OT.

Just imagine, we had a stinker in each series, we won one is 6 and almost won the other in seven, once they clean those areas up lookout!!!

Anaheim was the better team last night from start to finish, there was little doubt about that. They dictated the play and the style of the game, and the Oilers couldn't get it going their way.

Incredibly disappointing series as a long suffering Oilers fan, but at the same time, incredibly encouraging. If you'd have told me in Sept. that the Oilers would finish second in the Pacific and make it to the second round of the playoffs, I wouldn't have believed it lol, and I would have been thrilled with a result like that.

They have the foundation in place to be consistent Cup challengers and make deep runs in to the playoffs for next several years. They need some more 3rd/4th line depth and scoring and another quality D man (or Nurse/Benning to turn the corner). A few minor adjustments, along with this year's experience, and they're in great shape to go all the way next year. It's been a LONG time since I've been able to say that.

Thanks Oilers. It was a great year!

Elk,

You got a lot of hate on for the Oiler's but I haven't really seen you support any team out right. As a hockey fan, who do you cheer for?

Does that sign still say "Welcome to Edmonton. City of Champions"?

Shouldn't it be changed to "Welcome to Edmonton. City of Slow Improvement"

I have cheering for Pittsburgh for several years. I cheered for Colorado when Sakic was there, and for Boston before Sinden ruined the team. I cheer for the team, not a sweater.

Ah. You're one of those who cheer for who ever looks good to win.

My 10 year old son has friends like that.

If that was true, I would have cheered for Montreal and Edmonton at times, but that has never been the case. I cheer fr a team that I like, because of the team make up.

Oh I'm sure. What are your lofty requirements for the team lucky enough to have you cheer for them .... aside from being cup favorites.

I liked Bobby Orr as well as other team members on the Boston team, then Sakic and Forsberg, and now I like Crosby and Fleury as players, and I liked Lemiex and Jagr previously. I was never a Gretzky fan, regardless of who he played for, or how many cups they won way back in the 80s.

I thought you said you cheered for a team...not a player?

This year.

Probably in the neighborhood of about 80% more playoff wins total.

The Oil look like they are on their way to be in the playoff run for the next few years.

I think Nugent and Eberlay should head south because they sure weren't playing for the Oilers, it's almost like they have already started their new contract.

I'm not going to say they were paid off, but I think they were paid off...

I don't get disappointed I just enjoy watching the game.
Win or lose I don't get a check in the mail so who cares.

That's why teams lose they dwell on what they have no control over rather than on what they do.
Fans like you make matters worse.

I haven't watched a lot of post game coverage, but from what I've seen it seems as though most of the Oilers as well as the Oilers organization are taking the high road on this and showing a lot of integrity (the fans - maybe not so much). This experience will prove to be a huge learning for them, and should result in an exponential lift in (to borrow from Dungeons and Dragons language) "experience points". I look forward to seeing how this team does next year and the year after. I predict an Oilers / Leafs cup final in 2019!

And from my POV from the couch, I'm not sure Eberle has what it takes. He stood out when the Oilers were mediocre at best scoring the odd fancy goal early in the season, but most of the team has now evolved past him. I say trade him while his commodity is still somewhat high and get one more big d-man. Look what Pronger did for the team...

Both of them think corners are for bus stops....that doesn't work in the playoffs...

Thought this summed up all the hoopla about the Oilers going Duck hunting quite nicely!
