35 whelen

just got my 35 whelen today i have 3 boxes of 200 grain ,i know they also have a 250 gr. if i was reloading are there any other gr ains that i can get and any manuals for for bullets on line . thanks.

Good luck with your Whelen, mine definately likes the 250g Speers the best, although I only tried 225g partitions other than that. Don't know too much about online manuals, but for sure one of the best powders for this round is Reloader 15. In my rifle it gives great velocity in relation to pressure peak and the deviation is usually only around 5fps.

Barnes also has loads online for their product. I haven't loaded any yet as I am still shooting the factory loads I have picked up.
35 Whelen sure is a good one, I use mine for almost all my hunting now. I am hoping that someone in Canada brings in the Ruger 77 Hawkeye in 35 Whelen.

I use 225 Gr Noslers with reloader 15 in mine.It shoots under an inch at a 100 yds

No pressure signs in my rifle although the Nosler manual lists this as near or over max with their test rifle, the old Barnes manual however shows it as a max load.

My whelen really liked the 225 gr Noslers but only at a slower speed.I really had a lot of trouble with the gun when I got it,So I sent it back to Bashaw and had the trigger done and when I got the gun back I tried seating my bullets deeper and crimping them.I took it out and shot it and it will shoot 3/4 groups@ 100yds if you really work on it.I don't know what actually fixed the accuracy but it shoots like a dream.The load I use is
57gr of IMR 4064 and a 200 gr Barnes TSX.Everything this gun had touched has died and with hardly any damage.
