Default 35 Whelen Load

Hi,

I just picked up a new Whelen and am working towards a nice bear/moose load. I am thinking of using some 225gr TSX, 225gr Accubonds or Partitions and was wondering what other people are using. I have heard that 4064 or RL-15 work wonders in Whelens and have been working towards a load.

Let me know what works for you,

Thanks,

I've used Rel 15 and Varget in the 35 Whelen in four different rifles. Best accuracy and velocity was always attained with Rel 15. Most manuals top out at 60 grs with a 225. Start at around 57 grs.
A 24" Whelen I built with a Bevan King barrel years ago did 2725 with a 225 Partition pushed with Rel 15.

What rifle did you get?

R-P brass, 53.8gr H4895, CCI 200's

Start your load development around 50gr.

I picked up a Ruger All Weather (stainless/synthetic) with a 22 inch barrel. I needed something a bit bigger than my old rifle.

It looks like I will have to pick up some RL-15 and some H4895 along with more bullets!
