In Trudeau's interview today with John Tory he implied there will be strict new regulations coming out in his election campaign soon to announced.
I'm guessing a full out ban on all semi's is coming down the pipe, the antigun crowd is outraged the Liberals have't banned handguns so the turd will throw gun owners under the bus for votes.

This doesn't really pass the reason-ability test because not all of the 1.5M are prohibited.

To get a slightly better number, looking at the buyback price list (https://www.police.govt.nz/sites/def...price-list.pdf), I'm going to just wager an average at $1500/firearm.

They budgeted 208M, at $1500/each that's roughly 140,000 firearms.
These numbers translate to a 8.2% compliance rate which may be more reasonable.

I wonder how long before crates of SKS's get smuggled in just so they can make money reselling them to the buyback - It's new Comrad, it has full cosmoline!
