Haha, My bad But just wondering where you are getting your stats from? From your posts it sounds like your a good hunter. And you have given great advise on here too about this topic. I just hope we both have better luck then once every 12 years Sorry for getting this thread off topic.

$10 over the counter dall every year

I have an a-bolt in 300wmag that is about 7 1/2 lbs. I'll probably carry this until my once in a lifetime grizz tag is filled. I bought a 257wby ultralight for an all round user...6 3/4 lb's....maybe it'll kill the grizz...who knows. I think the 300wby is the same weight....but not the same recoil

Both are left handed for guys that have the same problem by the way.

Shave weight everywhere you can AND get into shape.

I have done a fair amount of mtn hunting in the past few years and I finally bit the bullet and bought a mountain rifle (Rem ti). The only thing I can say about it is why the heck didnt I do it sooner. Yes you can shave weight in other area and you should but believe me fella the 4 lbs you can shave off your gun will be the best four pounds you ever lost. As for all those naysayers I would suggest that either a) they have never really mtn hunted or b)are jealous of those with a light gun or c)dumb

PS I find that the deer around here don't know that I shot them in a field with a mountain rifle so yes you can and should use it as much as you can
