Default Hi everyone

I'm moving to Calgary in Sep and I'm already preparing for the fishing I will be doing. I was just wondering if anybody had any tips or advice to help me start off. I have been fly fishing for 5 years in Ontario and a little in B.C. and N.S. I use most patterns of flies, my go to is always this fly in Ontario. The trout pound them here. The thing is what works here might not work there.
Also I really love this forum most Ontario fisherman are none helpful this forum seems like it’s full of helpful people. Hope to make friends/ fishing buddies with a bunch of you.
Thanks

With a woven nymph like that you will catch a lot of fish and friends!

That stone looks deadly, any more photos of your work?

Cool patterns! Looks pretty neat, I'm sure you'll hook some trout with those!

HI! And welcome.

You sir are an artist! Very impressive flies.

I think you may be in one of the best places in this province to put them to good use.

They wouldn't do much up here. Not a lot of Trout here about and the water tends to be rather murky. Even muddy.

But those flies make me want to dust off the old fly rod and head south.

So you finally saw the light and are moving to Calgary........i did the same 20 years ago from Toronto......you will never look back!!! Those flies you tied are absolutley beautiful, it won't take you long to get onto the different fly patterns out here, look forward to seeing them at work on the Bow.

Nice looking nymphs.
A small minnow pattern would compliment those.
One good all around dry fly and you are all set!
Get those wagers wet.

Wow, love the nymphs, they almost look alive. Lighter color thread on the sides makes them really stand out. I've tried weaving a stone patern out of micro chenile it turned out ok(apart from absorbing a pint of water when it gets wet) but you sir sure have a great perspective and skill.

Do you ever coat them with epoxy or similar?

Btw welcome!!!

When you get here, I would love to meet up with you for some tying...I am delighted by woven flies, and would love to give it a go, but would really like to watch a couple tied first-hand. We have a great tying/fishing club hete that would benefit from your membership.
