Default Fall perch tactics

I'm headed to a northern Alberta lake this weekend and apart from throwing for pike I was wanting to get into a few perch. I'm okay at catching perch in the winter but I've never had a really good summer perch season. Any tips for finding where they're at? Do they have an affinity for any specific kinds of structure this time of year? Fly or gear? Any tips are appreciated!

Yes I have had great success for Perch with Royal coachman wet fly , Dragon fly nymphs , and leeches. Sinking/sink tip very slow retrieve! Tight lines!

Here is something to try:

Find a rocky bottom along a weed line.

Drag your anchor in a large circle to stir up the bottom.

Anchor in the middle of your circle.

I do like greendrake fly suggestions and judging by your "confidence zone" and avatar name, you will be chucking flys. :-)

I would also suggest rigging up a spinning rod on a drop shot with small jig on the bottom, wire worm with maggot 18" up and a small hook with meal worm 18" from the wire worm.

If you don't catch anything within 15"-30"...move.

And be prepared to move a lot.
Cheers...and tight lines this weekend.

I personally find them a little deeper during turnover period. Then by first ice they are back in the shallows. In snipe they didn't move offshore in the fall but lakes like Fawcett and slave I always got perch and wallies deep this time of year. This big wind and cold we are getting now will turn the lakes over.
