Default R.I.P. Wholesale Sports

Chainwide closures, staff given notice, it's the end of an era. Apparently liquidation begins in the next few days.

Sad day for Albertans and all Western Canadians that bought their first piece of hunting or fishing gear here.

Yikes! Where did you hear about this?

Was looking at their FaceBook page, someone was asking about the Winnipeg store closing...

A lot of good memories from that place over the years. In Calgary, previous incarnations such as Barrotto's, Rushell's and Frency's come to mind.

Joins and opens with that post? And no one else seems to be able to find additional supporting information?

I'll have to make a trip to my closest Wholesale to see for myself.

Call each location and you will get the "we're closed" message, or better yet talk to one of the 800+ employees and they'll verify it has been closed with their ROE's.

Sad times for them

I found a Reddit post similar but nothing else other than other stores. Maybe a troll but wouldnt surprise me. I would think UFA would try to sell it off which I have not noticed publicly. Stay tuned I guess.

Well, Edmonton South, Saskatoon and Lethbridge also have the "store is currently closed" phone message - lunch hour is over so I guess no sense in dialing any more of them. Boss says get to work

Can confirm that the Lethbridge Wholesale Sports was shutdown today to prepare for a closing day sale. Pretty sad as there are few other good options in Lethbridge for firearms. Bet Marksman and Section 8 are jumping up and down over this news.

Well, that's sad...

On the bright side, this would be the best time of year to clear out inventory.

Question

Is this a company wide closing ... or are they just 'pruning the tree' ?

Best we all just sit back, and wait for an Official Announcement.

Anyone know when the liquidation sale starts? The wife said if its being liquidated by a 3rd party the deals will be slim to none.

Well damn. I'd called a manager's (whose a friend of mine) direct line. He told me not to worry.
Just called their main line...and you're right...they are not answering.
