Default Monday Hunt

The results of a monday evening hunt with my hunting buddy. 1 water retrieve and 1 little guy.

One thing I have noticed in the past 3 years are piebald roosters. I have been seeing more and more birds with white on their feet or white at the end of their tails. The thing I notice about these birds is that the ones that have this white dont get the big tail feathers pheasants are known for. The little guy had this. Even though he is a young bird his tail feathers were 8" at the longest.

Good work. How do the bird numbers compare to last year in your area?

Not good goldscud. Theres birds around but I walking alot farther to find them.

The spot I hunted tonight I usually have one in the bag right away then the 2nd comes up a little farther along the push. Both these birds were shot near the end and the birds are alot smaller. Usually I see 25-30 birds along this stretch, I seen 3 hens and these 2 boys.

How about you?

We and others are finding the same thing. A lot fewer birds and smaller size. I guess the first hatch probably failed and birds renested.
