Updated Saskatchewan if the bugs don't get you the weeds might
Sap from invasive weed in Sask. can burn skin
Experts warn of wild parsnip in the province
If you gently rub against it, the effects are like poison ivy. If you try to pull it, you could suffer ill health effects for the next three years, according to Chet Neufeld, Chair of the Saskatchewan Invasive Species Council and Treasurer of the Canadian Council on Invasive Species.
"You'd get something similar to a third-degree burn. So you'd have oozing, open sores, and blistering. And these side effects could continue up to three years," Neufeld told CBC Saskatchewan's Afternoon Edition.

Think we call it Cow Parsnip here, very common junior version of the Wild hog weed. Never thought of it as irritating, but then, I don't roll in the stuff.

You may be thinking of water hemlock, which is deadly on cows. THe juice in water hemlock kills bovine dead, and quick. We have lost a couple to water hemlock. Find the animals with the stem of the plant still in their mouths. Very quick death. Cows parsnip not so bad, water hemlock well, it's bad.

Does anyone know if there are similar looking weeds here in Alberta (West of Stony plain) or if we would have these. I have some pretty similar looking plants in my yard that i thought were noxious weeds i have been pulling, wore gloves but probably contacted my arms and no burning so far.

Very similar to cow parsnip which has a white flower vs the yellow on wild parsnip.

More than 3 years after!
I’ve had a reaction from wild parsnip...picked up as a kid in Ontario...I’m 42 now and still get reactions if the environmental conditions are right! It’s basically systemic now...doc says it’s a “photo phyto dermatitis”, basically sunlight can set it off...for me I need to be in and around water too. And I can attest, it sucks big time, almost always in the same spots of my body too. Pretty sure Alberta is starting to get it so steer clear, you do not want it!

Theres a pond (Cardiff) just north of the city thats got a real heavy growth of yellow plants that sure looks like what we are talking about here. Its all round the shore line. Never seen it like that before this year. Can barely find a spot to fish.
