Hopefully the guide doesn’t shoot your bear out from under you.

From what I've seen on YouTube, it isn't uncommon for a guide to give several quick follow up shots very quickly after his hunter takes the first shot. If it were my tag, I would be ****ed off to no end, but im guessing it's a safety precaution. Or at least that's the excuse.

Exactly. I would want to be able to say I killed a bear not hit a bear. Obviously if it gets in a dangerous situation then the guide should be shooting. But based off the videos I see The guides start shooting from a ways out.

Have had two friends shoot griz in Alaska, and they guides followed up with shoots right after the fired.

Hardly what I would call Fair Chase. What does B&C say ?

I suspect quick follow ups have more to do with the hunter than the guide.

Grizz
B&c doesnt care
Pope and young does though
If you shoot one with a bow and they follow it up with a rifle it is ineligible

Regardless I’ll definitely be having this chat when I get to camp
Supposedly they don’t shoot unless they have to

2/3 hunters got bears over 9’6” since the opener on the 10th
Should be fun 👍

Good luck Mark!

When I went I told the guide not to shoot unless I told him to, I’m fully capable of recognizing if I made a bad shot lol

He said it’s your bear, unless it’s trying to eat us I won’t shoot.

Billy Molls said it best. Its the clients job to shoot the bear at 250 yds. Its the guides job to shoot it at 10.

I'm sure the guides are just prepared for a large portion of their customers not having a lot of trigger time. If they know you're more than capable, they're probably more than happy to stay out of your way.

Good luck Mark! Like usual I look forward to the story and some amazing pics!

He’s a hypocrite as he’s gone trigger happy on peoples bears at well over 100 yards unnecessarily.

A good guide won’t pull the trigger unless it becomes a safety issue.

Good luck Mark remember bear hunting is no fun unless you are within 50yards that is when it gets exciting

I've never had the privilege of hunting with him.

Maybe he knew they weren't hit well. The last thing I'd want to do is walk into dense head and higher alder patches retrieving a wounded bear because some jackhandle can't make a decent shot at 1 -200 yds on something the size of an SUV. Not to mention them ending up the bottom of a gulley in a stream where slicing, dicing, and packouts would be so much fun.
