You need to share where you are finding that many rat's. Been out a few times in the south and have never seen as many as you are shooting.

Absolutely straight west of the bridge on chin along the east shore. South of the launch at Newell about a mile south on the east side in about 20 ft of water.East of the boat launch at Ridge on the west end. West of the hutterite colony at St Mary's is good. That's my spots where are the Gophers?

If any of you need assistance with this unruly beasts, please send me a pm. I'm happy to jump through your hoops to prove myself.... not looking to secure permissions or locations out from under you. I have never partaken in a gopher hunt.
Will my 7mm STW have sufficient energy to handle these monsters,

Made one trip down south last May and took between 8 and 9 hundred over 2 days. Do at least one trip per year and pretty sure I did post a couple of numbers. Not hard to shoot shwacks when you have permission on 12 sections of prime pasture in the middle of gopher mecca. Wish I had the time to be down there a couple of days per year but 6 and a half hour drives and 3 nights in a motel isn't quite as easy to do anymore.

Some of us don't treat it the same as shooting a 200" whitetail is all.

Notice I said "We" as in ALL the posters in the thread who enjoy whacking them each year. We both know the big numbers haven't shown themselves yet. I like late April early May depending on what the weather's doing.

2121 + 9 = 2130. Not sure how many I've got this year (50-60mebbe?) but haven't missed or needed two shots.

I'm out of this thread until 2057.................

Lots of gophers around in the milk river area isn’t there Gerry. Most landowners will let you shoot gophers anytime, just have to ask!

You guys typically spot and stalk? Or set up a blind?..........

Kidding! Am wondering if anyone uses those setups where you sit on a swiveling seat that rotates 360 degrees and provides a rest as well.......

Been quite a few years since I've taken my kids out on a gopher patch, think it's time to do some weekend scouting and door knocking......

Mostly use a portable blind on wheels with air conditioning, cup holders, and built in shooting rests that allow you to view behind as well but don't tell anyone please.
