Default Creedmoor heavy bullets loads

I recently purchased a 6.5 Creed. I am thinking of shooting the heavy for class bullets like the 153 Gr bergers or others like it. I have a 1/8 twist barrel. I am curious what you fellas are shooting and what sort of velocities your getting with your specific loads.

I have a 6.5x47 lapua and I want to keep that to the 140 and lighter bullets. (Its shoots these great)

I bought the Creed for the slightly extra case capacity. So I can shoot the bigger bullets. What Brass / Powder / Bullet combo's are working well for you?

I haven't shot the Berger yet, but have shot a bunch of another, similar bullet.

Hornady 147ELDM
Alpha or Hornady brass
H4350 or IMR4451
CCIBR2 or Tula LR

A mixture of these have worked in several rifles. Usually much better than MOA. 2650-2675 FPS.

Your choice of the 6.5 Creedmoor for use with the heavy for cal bullets brings up a question. Perhaps a much better choice would have been a modern actioned 6.5 Swede É

With about 4 gr.s more case capacity than the CM. going that route would have increased your MV to the mid 2800`s with a bullet like a 143 ELDx and a modern powder - without excess pressure ( less than 58,000 psi) and with every bit of the accuracy that the CM can produce. I always wondered what the magical draw to The CM ctdge. was all about.. especially with the heavier bullets. Still curious. Need some help. No diss intended.

The Creedmoor is a good cartridge ballistically, and a great cartridge for what it was designed for which is Across the course match shooting in AR length has and bolt actions that encorporate the AI style mags .
Anything else is imagined because it won't do anything more than the .260 Remington or the Swede.
I shoot the Creedmoor regularly as well as the .260.
In the actions of my choice the length of a cartridge is not an issue anyway.
Would I buy another Creednmoor?
Only victor was chambered in a rifle I liked .
Hornady has done a fantastic job if component and factory ammo availability and their advertising department also is stellar .

156 EOL Bergers over 46.0grs of RL 26 gets 2780fps in my 6.5 creed.

I never shot anything heavier than the 147 Hornadys in my 6.5 Creedmoor , but they were certainly accurate to 1K with the sling 'n' irons, but I quit shooting them because the 140's were just as good.

I may have made a mistake. I have been shooting 140 ELdM out of my 6.5x47 lapua @ 2800+ and I thought that the Creed might get me up over 2900 or maybe I could shoot the 156 grain projectiles in the 2700 FPS I think that I might have had to high of expectations.

I also bought it because I dont always enjoy reloading. Some days its very rewarding but other days its a chore. So I thought to get a Creed and you can buy off the shelf ammo. That has been nice I must say. Cant do that with a x47L

Seems like they are pretty close.

One thing that is fascinating is how the X47L loves varget but the Creed doesnt. Very Interesting.

A 6.5x47 shooting 140's at 2800+ is a stout load and a long barrel. I have pushed the Creed pretty fast with N550 and 147's nearing 2900 in a 26" barrel, but brass life is short. My current match load has them doing 2750 over 41.3 H4350 and I can easily get to a mile and on good days in the right location have stretched them a ways past that. Speed isn't everything.

Default Thanks

That sounds like an interesting load. Its more inline with what I was looking to do.

And yes my x47L is pretty stout and its a 28" barrel I believe.
