how to catch perch at star lake

trying with worms and a pickrel rig have any advice?

I'm new to fishing only 2 years got a 4lb pike

Well what I learnt a long time ago was to place an anchor into the water amongst the vegetation etc and drag it back for 20 yards, this will disturb the bottom and all the little critters are exposed. Let it settle for a moment, split shot on your line or small weight, small hook with a piece of meal worm or whatever bait you got, small piece of cooked shrimp works awesome. You will see once the bottom gets disturbed the perch will roll in and feed like crazy, occasionally they will leave due to a bigger predator showing up like a gator.
Do this for various areas as fish tend to stay together by size so if your on the little footballs hang on!

I’ve had success using a slip bobber adjusted for the depth of water and just a worm on a plain Aberdeen hook around a no8. I would go no6 if they’re larger perch to keep the smaller ones from inhaling the hook to where you tear them up removing the hook. Works for perch bluegill crappie heck even small mouth.

Bacon works great and if you are skunked you can fry up some to make your day.

we just fish beside the dock because we don't have a boat

that's brilliant! does the bacon stay on your hook and do the perch like it too?
