Default BC Parks Reservation - equipment length vs site length

Hi guys & gals - does anyone have any experience with the BC Parks Discovery Camping site in regards to the 'equipment' size it asks for compared to the actual unit size? I'm trying to book myself and a friend each a site and his trailer is 40ft...

Some of the information for specific sites says the 'site length' is 60ft (for example), but when you choose 'over 32ft' for equipment size, it marks the site as not suitable for the size of the equipment. What? Surely a 60ft site length fits a 40ft truck and trailer, but it shows otherwise on the site... I don't get it.

Anyone know, or have experience on whether to go by the specific site length or by the recommendations based on equipment size? Thanks

I have come across this also. I have fitted my 40 ft motorhome into 32 and under sites. You really have to scope out a campground on your first visit to know if you can fit into other sites. Sometimes there are big trees in the way and it would be difficult to maneuver in. I usually go to about 3 campgrounds in BC and have a list of sites I know I can fit in, regardless of what size is on the search criteria.

Thanks! And I hear you about the trees. Surveyors is where we're looking at and we were there last year, but I'm having troubles remembering a couple specific sites... The pictures on some sites make the pad look huge, and the info has long lengths, but for whatever reason, 32ft+ doesn't fit. Very strange.

We had the same issue, sometimes it's not the actual site that is limiting, but access to get in and out with a long unit. We booked a large site once that said our 26 ft trailer wouldn't fit. Once we showed up we realized that the road was narrow and there was a post we had to navigate when backing in... made it work, but there was a lot of entertainment provided to the neighbors courtesy of the ensuing argument between my wife and I

Ah, that's a good point that I hadn't thought of. Thanks! Should probably play it safe.
