Default Edmonton Eatons Christmas Window Displays

Whatever happened to all those fantastic Christmas animated displays Eatons used to have in downtown Edmonton? Someone must have them as they were phenomenal. Only place close to those displays was Galleries Lafayete in Paris near the Opera.

Even Calgary did not have back then. Are they lost foreever or does some collector have them. Back then there was lots of taste and character to those displays with all those busy mice.

One person was probably offended by them, so they had to go

it looks like the displays might be in Saskatoon’s Western Development Museum.

Yep seems like Saskatoon rescued the Winnepeg Eatons Display. I wonder what happened to Edmontons!

Hopefully they rolled the salvaged Edmonton stuff into the Saskatoon display.

Hurray for Saskatchewan.

Possible but maybe not.
The bean counters probably had something to do with it.

One building I worked at used to have major Stampede decorations, a huge Stampede breakfast, and major Christmas decorations every year.
All the employees of the building were involved with the breakfast and setting up the decorations. Those were good times.

Then one year someone decided it affected the "bottom line", wasted employees' time better spent at "normal" things and generally "cost too much money"; so it all ended.
The whole place became pretty dull at those times of year without any of the usual "spirit" of previous years. All the decorations etc were shoved into a storage room and forgotten.

Those darn communist bean counters and do gooder punks. I lived in Romania for a year and spirits remain dampened after all these years. So sad.

Oh wow, that sure brings back some memories!

Was always a treat when Mom would take us to go see those.

Even the local malls had some cute animatronic displays as well.

Can't believe I forgot all about those things.

Maybe that's why I always dragged the kids to go see "Maisies' House" off 97th in Edmonton.

Heh, yeah... Found some fishing lures in Dad's old tackle box with Woodward's price tags still on them. Ah, memories...
