Default Moose Hair Tufting

My wife is going to teach some young people and some other women the art of Moose hair tufting. She has asked me to see if anyone has a chunk of hide from the rump or shoulder area where the hairs are " white " that we may be able to purchase?

Any help with this would be appreciated as she wants to pass on a dying art form.

Thanks Dodger.

We picked up a couple of moose hair tufting flowers 30 years ago on a trip to NWT. Wife had them framed and they still hang on our wall. Would be sad to see this art form fade away.

I believe they are from Fort Providence. They are a pleasant souvenir from a road trip we did 29 years ago.

Thanks for the pics Willie. I had no idea what moose hair tufting was. Never heard of it before. Looks quite nice.

We have both moose hair tuftings & caribou hair tuftings hanging in our house, given to us by a native friend from Coppermine. We have birch bark bitings from north of Thompson, Man, done by Canada's premiere birch bark artist(deceased). My sister who lives in the US & bro, both native art collectors offered some outrageous money for them. Needless to say I refused it, in order to hand them down to my kids, who grew up in the far North and both appreciate it!!!
