Default Bill 6 rammed through

from CTV's facebook page:

BREAKING NEWS: BILL 6 PASSED
Outrage at the Alberta legislature as controversial Bill 6 passes its third reading 44-29.
It happened about a half an hour ago, after the House Leader implemented a motion to limit debate on third reading of the bill.
Many opposition MLAs are outraged saying the NDP government went about the farm safety bill thing the wrong way.
Strathmore-Brooks Wildrose MLA Derek Fildebrandt says "the problem is the government has legislated first, regulated second and consulted first that's not how responsible democracies make laws."
Debate on third reading of the bill began this morning. About an hour in, House Leader Brian Mason moved a motion to limit the discussion -- on the final phase of the bill -- to an hour. Much of the comments after that focused on the behaviour of the NDP government through this legislative process.
More to come ...

Still think that the Idea of a petition to dissolve the government and have a new general election is silly???

How does the national anthem go?
Land of the free?
Wonder if the next change will be re writing the national anthem.

The Fuher has made it clear, that we are powerless to stop her. Resistance is futile, we will be assimilated.

That's federal, but I wouldn't doubt that Trulander would get right on it... Funny thing is, the national anthem reveals so much about how the political system works and where their authority comes from... It's like saying a pledge every time... So, I don't think it'll change very much...

If the PCs were still in power, wouldn't it be the NDP shouting the loudest about how this bill is being pushed through, despite the massive amount of opposition?

What a bunch of whining ninnys.

Same thing happened under the PC with bills for public safety and others.

The ruling government is ruling. That is what was elected. Same arguments were dismissed as lefty libertard whining after PC's won and after Harper won but now that it is the NDP the world is coming to an end.

Make your voice heard, especially at the next election. Write the premier, write your MLA, write the minister. Make them work for it.

no. The only way they'll be brought to heel is if there is a very real threat that they will lose power before they can ram through their agenda...

It's not.
They have a plan, they are sticking to it. No matter what the populous says.

You can threaten to not vote for them, like you didn't vote for them last time.

You want them to feel threatened? You better find a way to make us "citiots", as some of you like to refer to us, care about your plight. With Edmonton and Calgary in their pocket they can thumb their nose at you. Much like the PC's with the large rural base used to do to the cities when they came cap in hand for money. Political fact of life.

So much for the New "democratic" Party.

Change.org Alberta recall-sign the Petition so we can tell these clowns how we feel, is now 50,000+ and climbing.

Default its a great bill

there is a reson every othet province has a version of this bill. its not a socialist scheme but rather is aimed at helping workers on large farms. Family farms are exempt. The govt did a horrid job introducing and communicating but the bill as amended is fine. much ado about nothing.

I should have been clearer in the first post. Have a petition for a referendum for a yes or no vote to dissolve the current government and have a new general election.

That will get their attention...

The "horrid job" is the understatement of the century!

Take this as you may, but I still don't beleive that if there was no uproar, that they would have exempted the family farm. The writing was in print by WCB what the rules were going to be. Once the rules were there they wouldn't have removed them.

The principle idea of making farms safer im all for. However, Just from The way that this whole debacle was handled, ill never trust them. Just saying.

I leave that part out when I sing the anthem. Might not even stand up anymore either.

This, people also not knowing how our legislative system works and fear mongering by the WRP didn't help the situation.

Ahhh....that's it!...when all else fails trot out "fear mongering". The only people that don't know how our legislative system is supposed to work is Rach and her crew...they work FOR us...we are their boss. You, yourself have ranted on continually about the Gov't. sticking it's nose into industry and business...apparently it's okay when you're not involved?. Maybe ask some of the people who have worked as hired hands on farms for years how they are treated as far as benefits, insurance etc. goes?. What the heck, no sense trying to explain anything to you....carry on with your fear mongering claims....maybe see if you can work racist in there someplace like a good little Liberal

Your the one who kept saying there's tons of blank pages in the bill. Which makes me wonder if you know how legislation is normally passed. And I'm very consistent in my view of workers rights and freedoms. I believe that agriculture workers should have the same as every other employee in the province.

My father always said, there was an old Ukrainian saying, "that if you put horns on a pig it would gore you to death". Well in the last election Albertans put horns on the pig.
