I think AR 15’s and handguns are dangerous so we should restrict them. Oh wait...

I’m not reading all the comments but in all honesty imo there isn’t a ungulate in Alberta that I couldn’t crush with my 22-250 out to 500. Not even a question.
If it where legal

I wouldn't bet on it. Like i say there is no shortage of the sks/t97 types out there.

Most hunters are over gunned and would continue to be so.

When I was young and I would go to the General store to buy 22 shells I asked the store owner why he didn’t carry 22 mag shells. He said he does but can’t keep them on hand because the natives buy them all for shooting moose. So if a 22 mag works I’m sure a 223 would be more than adequate with proper shot placement

And yet you know a dozen hunters from BC and none of them hunt with a 223.

I'll bite.
What is out gunned.
A 243, 260, 6.5, 7x57, 308, 30/06, 7mag, the 300's, and endless 338's, 45/70. Jack O'Connors 416 Rigby.
Where is this line of out gunned.
Funny thing is that alot of these out gunned guns have taken alot of big game around the world and in America.
There are 2 camps, and everything in the middle.
So what is out gunned, and what is under gunned.
Surely there's a line some where isn't there.
Just asking since I'm in the middle category of gunned.
At least I think I am. Ha

And what exactly is that Chuck? Ever made a bad shot ?
I have, but I've been doing it a long time. It sucks when it happens, but I know I'd far rather do it with a .30 mag and quality bullet or something of the sort rather than a pop gun.
Where's the line Chuck? The GoA has drawn it at .23, and I'm good with that.
Think there might be a reason why they have minimum caliber laws in many countries in Africa? Or they just have a clue?
Shooting those heavy bores? What, are they nuts. Obviously they can't shoot them enough to be proficient with them....maybe they should looking at dropping those silly draconian laws as well.
Cat referred to this thread as being "serious". Not a serious thing about it. 3 or 4 members of the Creedmore Posse sounding like a broken record is all it is
I've got a little CZ 453 with a bull barrel in .17 hmr. Can keep them all under a dime at 100 yards. Should be able to pile a deer with that every time if I do my job. Should it be legal as well? And if not, why not?

Another riddle? Why is there a reason you can't relay your message in plain normal communication instead of idiot style?

Talk about a pot meet kettle type moment......
I lost a buck using a 300mag and Barnes ttsx, proof it's more about the shot placement than the headstamp.

Well I don't think there is such a thing as over gunned unless you can't shoot it properly.
I do believe there is situations of being under gunned though.

You think they were shooting 22 mag, if that's true, because it was a good moose medicine cartridge or because it was cheap? Pump enough lead into anything from .22rf up into an animal and sooner or later it'll fall over.
I have no doubts that head shots with a 22mag would be more than adequate in the 25-75 yard range. Just not the best prescription, and anyone with enough sense to come in out of the rain would agree.

Bingo.dead is dead so who cares what you shoot. If you have shot a certain cartridge for decades and everything drops where you want what difference doses it make. The best rifle is the one you shoot well, regarless of cartridge size. And not from some bench.
You shoot whatever is in your comfort zone ,plus some guys have multiple comfort zones with multiple cartridges and some can't go both ways and are blaming there flaws in the past on other larger cartridges.
Buck fever, bad follow up shots if needed.over thinking your shot and taking your eye off your kill and off it goes, bad nerves, getting over excited at a moving target and many other things can happen regardless of the cartridge size.

Exactly. Were ethics their top priority using a cartridge like that?

Hate to contradict you but I didn't get a 26 nosler. Instead I'm going with a 358 utm. 26 nosler is planned for the future though.
