Default E-Collar for dog with dense hair

I picked up a garmin sport pro for my 10 month old GWP. She’s at the point now where I feel she’s ready, my only problem is her coat is so dense it’s hard to tell if the contact points are really touching her skin. I have tried both the long and short points that came with the collar, and I have wiggled the box to try and get through the hair but when I apply a nick or short continuous stimulation I’m not getting any sort of reaction from her at the lowest levels of stimulation.

It’s not that her hair is really long either, it’s just so thick. Am I looking at getting a spot thinned out? I don’t want to proceed until I know I can apply pressure consistently and fairly.

Take a head buzzer with a guard on it and cut neck fur back

My e-collar came with a test light, and it indicates nothing on the lowest setting, so I put it on my hand and tried It, and I felt almost nothing. Just make sure the collar is tight enough, and increase the setting until you see a response.

Default Several things.

I can't imagine a dog with coat so thick ,the long points don't
penetrate.. The collar has to be quite tight , just to get a finger
Underneath .
I always try the stimulation on me , 4 &5 are interesting ...

This dog is 11 , I may have shocked him 3 times .....for safety
reasons , was to windy for the whistle .....the buzzer gets his attention
Most times.

Yeah maybe will have to try higher levels of stim, the collar itself works fine I just hate the thought of pushing her through training if I’m not totally sure when she’s feeling it or not

Long contacts and just keep gradually moving it up until you get a reaction. Just s hake of the neck, not a yelp.

I suggest putting it on the mrs and see if it is functioning properly
