Unhappy Cellphone for my mama

Need some help here Folks. I had posted this in the Pony Express but I want to fan this out a bit.
My mom is at Royal Alex hospital in Edmonton, and I need to get her little flip cellphone to her. She had a heart attack here in Red Deer and had to be taken to Edmonton for an emergency angiogram. She is going to be having major heart surgery, and Mom is up there all alone (against her wishes to be down in Calgary instead) with no way to contact anyone, and I don't drive. Is anyone heading up to Edmonton that can swing by Red Deer and drop off her phone in the CCU unit so she can at least call out? I cannot head up until Friday

I would check to see if she is in a place where she could use a cell phone. Aren't they banned from a lot of medical facilities due to interference, etc.?? I'm not sure of this today. Just seem to have a recollection of this.

Default Phone CCU

Just ask the nurse to bring her a cordless phone to use, they have them for patients to use.

Hope her recovery is quick.

This is an urban myth. Some still have signs posted, but cell phones are used by physicians, nurses, managers, support personal - all while on the unit.

This may be the case at this hospital, but not the norm. Patients can often request to have a phone installed in their room, but usually comes at a cost.

I was in the CCU and the CICU units and used my cell phone no problem at all.

CCU at Misericordia and CICU at the Mazankowski.

Wags posted whilst I was typing.

Is there wireless in the hospital that she can access? I could lend a laptop til you make it up here if she knows how to work a computer. I don't know if Shaw's wifi is accessible from the hospital.

There you go. If the OP's mom is handy with a computer, I'll drop one off.

Been in there lots, they are always willing to bring you the phone from the nursing desk. You won't need one installed unless you plan on talking for lengthy periods, which I doubt would be the case if you are in that unit and that sick
