Default 4 Ton Electric Log Splitter

A couple of weeks ago I got a free cord of spruce, about 18" long and a lot of it is about 14" - 18" in diameter. As it freezes more it's a little easier to split but still alot of work. (Fresh cut Spruce) I went to CT. yesterday and the 4 ton Yardworks electric log splitter was on sale for 50% off. $ 200.00 So I figured why not. Tried it out on a 16" pc and it split that one with no problem at all. I'm very impressed. I can't wait till it warms up above -15 to tackle that cord of wood. I'm thinking it will take me maybe an hr or two at the most to split one cord. Only draw back is that its so low to the ground. Will have to devise a stand of some kind. Thought of the one that they sell for it but said nope, not worth the $
I will give a performance update after I put this cord of wood through the unit.

Wood splitting advice, split your wood mid winter after it has frozen. Splits much easier, at least twice as easy. JMO

We take one of those up north when we go fishing. Works tickety boo for us as long as the wood is dry and not green. Much easier than swinging an axe and faster too. Find as one gets older, the slick little gadgets like this are well worth packing along.

Default Great splitter

It's easier if u place it on your tailgate or trailer deck.

2 man system is very fast.

I clamp the button down when alone.

If I could change anything it would be nice to fit longer pieces

Kim473, we use it in a group campsite where there is power so no idea on what one would need in terms of a generator. Sorry.

Take some of your firewood blocks and use them as a stand.

Well, I put the splitter through a work out. Great little machine! 1/2 the pile (1/2 cord appox.) of wood split in an hr and that was taking it slow and easy. Not once did it have a problem of not beeing able to do a pc. and a few were about 16" dia. I highly recomend this unit while it's on sale. Only $ 200.00 at CT. 50% off. I should have got one years ago. 1/2 cord left to split, I can't wait as it's actualy fun. If a person was set up good and worked steady and fast with a helper, I think you could almost do a full cord in an hr or so.
