Talking South Country Trappers First BBQ a Success!

Despite a lukewarm response form our members and mailing list, the South Country Trappers first BBQ/Fundraiser last weekend was successful, with everyone there having fun and raising over $1100.00 for the club. Half of the attendees were locals invited by one of our executive for which we are grateful! They spent a lot of money at the silent auction. The weather was hot, the campground was great (right next to a big creek which came in handy!), the trap and turkey shoots were lots of fun and the piggy roast was yummy. We think we will have it there again next year, and hopefully we will get a few more members interested.
Thanks to everyone who helped out, and to those who donated and/or bought items!!

Congratulations on your first event! It is alot of effort to get an event organized. Looks like the South Country Trappers are off to a great start

Also just a reminder that the Rocky Trappers picnic is this weekend.

Thanks, Mr.O! You are right about it being a lot of work but we had some good help.We were very sorry that you could not be there.
We are now planning our fall banquet and AGM, slated for October 13th in Pincher Creek. Details to follow later!

Default D Valley BBQ & Trappers Event

Molly:

If you or anyone has a chance to make our August 25th event you may find it to be a good 'template" on what is possible at the South Country event. I know it is a bit of a drive... but believe it will be worthwhile to your crew! Perhaps we can send a few "emissaries" down from our local to do some demo's and talk about our wins etc. Our local organization has been very successfull and most importantly sustainable! Like South Country - we were a new entity just a couple of years ago.

Aug 25th - Drayton Valley Local: Pihtokwhe campsite, 1 mile N of D Valley. 1pm to dark. Free steak and food plus free trapping supply draws, lots of trapping demo's... 6 or more trappers doing various sets / animals. All trappers welcome.

Best of luck to the South Country Trappers.

GG

Thanks for the offer!! I am sure some of our "crew" will want to attend! And yes, by all means send "emissaries" down to our next BBQ!

Thanks again, Mr. O! I fully expect to see you there, with bells on! We plan to have quite a few good things going on at the banquet, including a live auction. Hopefully a dance also, so we are looking for a good (but reasonable...??) band. Anyway, stay tuned!
