Rats
Behind our house there are fields and some woodland, every year towards winter we get rats coming close to the house. The guy next door as a big log pile and the rats hide under the logs.I have a shed and the rats move under there.I set tunnel traps and catch a lot.I used to put poison down but when the rats die you never know where they are,at least with the traps you can see em dead.

We don't have rats in Alberta. Well we might have a couple but there is a diligent network in place to eradicate any that happen to make it here. I live in the Alberta/ Saskatchewan border and rats are only one of the plagues we get from Saskatchewan the rat patrol comes by regularly to inspectour out buildings for signs of rats. Between the cats and dogs, a rat has about a 10 minute life expectancy here.
When I lived in Ontario, there were lots of rats as well as a myriad of other vermin, both two legged and four. They would nest under our outbuildings , bird coops etc. Once a year on opening day of pheasant season I had several friends over for a hunt. we hunted pheasants in the morning and then after a leisurely lunch at the house, we would arm ourselves with hockey sticks and a pair of ferrets.
The rest was a redneck rat roundup. Too bad we had no video cameras.
I'm sure some psychiatrist someplace would like to study it.

both my grandmothers are from provost. went to the farm there regularly in the 80s and one year the dogs killed one by the old wood grainerys. twas no muskrat. only one ive ever seen in alberta. they are around, just not common. the further you get into the province, the less likely you are to see a rat.

Thanks to the rat patrol. If there were never any rats, we wouldn't need the rat patrol. They patrol relentlessly keeping the hoards of rats from Sask and B.C. at bay.
Too bad we could use those services for a few other things.

"I havent really taken any pics of any outdoor adventures untill this last fall. "
You need to be careful out there, a fall can be very bad. Did you get hurt? You say you have pics? That would be good if we could see them, otherwise.......well you know.

Hey funny froggy, you really need to pay attention to who you are talking to and what about. The guy is over run with real rats. You really should read the guy's post first without jumping to conclusions. There are real rats out there even in Alberta, but the guy is no where's close to AB.

I like to see my name up on the main category page for long periods of time, so I post on the trapping section and late at night.
