Default Bullpup's Banned

Not sure how many people know this and i've seen some in the sales so I figured id make sure id make sure everyone knows.
As of May 17th 2020 all bullpup firearms are now prohibited in Canada.....

"Prohibited Devices
Former Prohibited Weapons Order, No. 9

2 Any rifle, shotgun or carbine stock of the type known as the “bull-pup” design, being a stock that, when combined with a firearm, reduces the overall length of the firearm such that a substantial part of the reloading action or the magazine-well is located behind the trigger of the firearm when it is held in the normal firing position."

This exact statement was made in 2009 so I don’t know if I believe this.

Incorrect. That's been around for quite a few years. 1998 to be exact.

It refers to putting an aftermarket stock on a rifle that would not otherwise be considered a bull-pup and converting it into one.

So let me get this straight, if you purchase a firearm that came from the factory as a bull pup it’s okay?

But if you want to convert a non bull pup to a bull pup it’s not okay?

Kind of like you can buy a bolt action rifle from the factory with a 16.1” barrel and it’s okay, but you can’t shorten a longer barrel to less than 18”. You can however purchase and have installed a barrel shorter than 18”, shorter than 16.1” even, so long as the total overall length is more than 26.75” (or whatever it is).

WHO COMES UP WITH THESE RIDICULOUS LAWS, WHAT DRUGS ARE THEY ON?!?!?

These laws aren't designed to 'make sense', they're designed to punish conservatives. Firearm owners are overwhelmingly conservatives.

These laws are not supposed to make sense. They appear to be intended to confuse and punish firearms owners.

Just saw a store ad for a couple of styles of bullpups for sale yesterday, may have been a new line for the store, they are still out on the shelves anyway. At present there is no use for a store to order, and is "illegal" for it to stock, display or sell a gun that made the prohib list. They have to check status every day now, on anything that is risky to stock and sell.

thumper and elkhunter11, I couldn’t possibly agree more. I was more or less pointing out the complete ridiculousness of our firearms laws. When one takes a good look at some of them you just can’t help but see the complete and utter stupidity that went into making a lot of them.
