Taxidermy prices

I have looked at several taxidermy websites and I cannot find any that have prices for shoulder mounts and bear rugs. I'm not looking for the lowest priced or the highest priced place but what would an avg price be for a should mounted WT, Antelope and moose be? Also a black bear rug.

I guess I may have to call a few of these places when I get a minute to call.

I paid $900 for my WT mount and I think a bear rug average is 200 a ft?

Deer 675-900 and bear is 150-200 per foot around here

Moose shoulder mount was $1500 from rangeline taxidermy, I'll pay Shane what he says it costs. Haven't shopped around a ton but I don't plan to, he does great work, pricing seems fair and his turnaround time has been surprisingly fast.

And then people complain about turn around with those prices. Seems like a lot of work for not a lot of pay. Money does not go far these days gents.

A shoulder pedestal for a deer where I go is around $1150, but it looks like an $1150 mount....top notch work.

thanks guys, I certainly have no issues paying a bit extra for quality either.
Akoch, $1500 seems like a good deal on a shoulder mount moose considering I just got a quote for $2200. He said its $1000 just to have the hide tanned. Prices on everything in this world keep going up but our wages don't seem to be going up at all... That's for another thread though.

Maybe I got a better deal than I should have, and shouldn't be blabbing on the internet about it...

$1000 to tan a hide seems like an awful lot, there seems to be some questionable tales going around about tanning. A friend told me his taxidermist told him his elk hide would be a year and a half to get tanned. My moose was shot the first couple days of October and the hide got into the first batch going to the tannery, it was back by December. And the mount was completed last week.

Not saying it will happen to him or that the taxidermist he used was bad but that's the type of timeframe where the hide starts to pull away from the antlers and eyes over time. There's a reason the more expensive taxidermists take longer. Again, not saying this will happen but be careful

you are saying that the hide will pull away because the tannery got the hide back so quick or because the mount was completed within 4 months of the return of the hide?

I currently have a sheep getting mounted at sugar creek, I think the price was $1500.00 for the shoulder mount. Not sure if that's a cheap or expensive price. I wouldn't even consider going anywhere else. Marco does great work and I would not want to take an animal somewhere else and be disappointed.

I think Marco at sugar creek is great at lots of critters, but when it comes to sheep, Gary Schafer is undeniably the best around these parts!!

usually its a combination of both, again, not saying this is the case or it WILL happen as I don't know the circumstances but ive seen it happen quite abit and that's usually the story that goes along with it
