Single pin or Multi pin
I have been talking to alot of shops and it seems the majority all agree that single pin is the way to go. I would love to know your thoughts. My biggest fear is the animal always moving and you would have to keep setting. The one shop owner told me that it rarely happens that way.
Thoughts and opinions.

My next sight is going to be a moveable multipin. I think that single pin would be good for treestand hunting, and 3-d target archery. Although, I like the idea of having 4-5 pins to shoot out to 50/60 yards without having to change anything. I'm buying a moveable sight mainly for 3-d. So I have the ability to shoot farther distances without having to guess how far I need to hold over the target with my 50 pin.

I find multi pins to be too "busy". I like the simplicity of a single pin. With most of these new faster bows there isn't much hold over or hold under if you kee your pin at 30 yards.

I'm looking into getting a Spot hogg Fast Eddie XL but rather than going with
the single or double pin housing vertical fixed pin, adding a custom 5 pin horizontal adjustable housing.
The single or double vertical pins cannot be spaced or adjusted for 5 yard
spacing.
I want to space my pins at 5 yard increments, for hunting I need only 3 pins
really 20, 25 and 30 yards but having a 5 pin option if I decide I want to
add another pin for 35 yards, then I have what I need.
Otherwise for target and off season shooting I can use the course adjustments for up to 100 yards shots if I want.
1 Possible down side to using the older style horizontal pins is like mentioned
above crowding of the sight window and light excaping the front of the sight.
The newer vertical pins claim no light is seen from the front.
2 The vertical pins may put out much greater brightness due to the length of
the wrap of the fiber around the sight hood, the horizontals may only get
light reflected from the fiber or are shorter length fiber.
So I still have to figure out the answers to 1 and 2 before I order the sight.
Working on that.
Lastly is the weight of the XL 13 - 14 oz.
I know it's gonna be around 1/3 heavier than the sight I use now so I'm
looking into new stablizers to counter balance the sight.
I currently have a modular 6" stab but it does work loose sometimes and
is like 12 - 14 years old. I'm sure there is something better out there today.
So looking into balance too. Things to think about.
One of things I've noticed over the years was a bow heavy in the hand,
mass weight 6 to 7 lbs. was easier to break a 70lb. peak draw than a
lighter mass weight bow.
But a lighter mass weight bow was much easier to hold after 6 hours in the
woods.
Things to think about.

I've used a single pin now for the last 4 years. Had HHA single pin sights and now a Spott Hogg Fast Eddie, with a double dot on a single pin.
I won't go back to the multi pin.

Bee stinger makes some good stabilizers. I just switched to them. Used to just shoot the old limbsaver S-coil. I like the bee stinger a lot more. I'm just wondering about your plan to go in 5 yard increments. I have my sight set up for 10 yard increments right now, and it already seems too close. I'm thinking if you're shooting a fast bow, your pins will almost be touching. That makes it harder to aim, in my opinion.

Multi pin here. I been going back and forth and finally settled. I shoot 5 pins to 60 m and can stack for 70. I just don't like a mover for the simple reason that I kept forgetting to move it or hold low......or hold high.
I shoot a single pin for targets though.

I sometimes use a 2009 DXT or a 2006 SBXT (slower bows) and have dropped
from 70lb peak to 60 so pin spread for me with 3 pins 5 yards apart is fine.
I'm thinking about going with the .19 pins rather than the .10s also because
my vision is waning.
Another thing I still have to check into is option of a 2 or 4 x sight lens.
(scope ?) Have no idea what it would be like to shoot a bow looking at a
target with a scope on the bow. Maybe it would make the .10 pins look like
the .19s ? Just guessing.
Oh yea, the difference in the risers between my DXT and SBXT causes me
to adjust the horizontal on my current sight by like a quarter inch or so
another thing I'm wondering is if the Fast Eddie XL with an older sight hood
will make horizontal adjustment better or worse than the single or double pin hood.
I hear that the horizontal adjustment on the 1 and 2 pins is not the best.
Not meaning to put down the sight in any way I think it's most likely one of
the best around. Just posting my thoughts and concerns.
Thanks for the tip on the Bee Stingers will check them out.

Shop around a bit for the bee stinger, the same 8" stabilizer that Jim bows sells for $79.99, is $99.99 at Cabelas. Wholesale sports had them on clearance for pretty much the last 6 months. 50%off. However they are down to only a few black and red, and black and purple in the 10" sport hunter version. As for the horizontal adjustment. I have no idea. The post on the scope for the 1 pin looks pretty long, you would think there would be windage adjustment on the sight mount itself as well. I think I'm going to end up trying the Montana black gold, pure gold for my next sight. Looks like it's totally bullet proof.

Check out OPTION ARCHERY. It's owned by Dan Evans who started Trophy Taker. His sight called the Option Sight has settled this debate for me. I can't imagine ever shooting anything else or ever needing a new sight. It's bomb proof!

I really like the cbe tek hybrid. Best of both worlds as far as I'm concerned. I would like having 2 or 3 fixed and one moveable but I haven't found a sight that has executed it well yet. G5 is close but a little shoddy on quality.

Multi for me don't like moving sights once set good to go. Same with rifle all it takes is forgetting to move turret back or sight back and miss or wound an animal

How accurate would those 3 pins stay by constantly moving them back and forth? (I know it wouldnt be to often but woud like some input) really neat design.

Having used multi pins and single pin I have settled on a single pin. If the limbs are set at about 55 pounds (or anything above that) the bow will shoot fairly flat at 20 to 30 yards. Plus the dial with the yardage strip can be set for longer shots. The single pin is less busy and to shoot longer will require a great deal of practice. Arrows have to be dialed in for the bow and pin settings.

Multi on a slider or dial is the best of both worlds IMHO.

Just received an email that my sight has shipped, took a few weeks to get it
in the mail.
I decided on the FE xl with a 3 pin horizontal, 19 pin dia. with a 4x lens.
I didn't go with a custom order to keep the cost down but I expect the pin colors to green, yellow, red.
All pins green would have been fine with me for what I want to do.
Am working on a couple of projects in the basement..
1 a 4' x 6' rag target stand like you've seen in DIY section of Archery Talk.com
I have the target faces and framed 12 x 2"s put together need to prime paint
and stuff with closes etc. yet.
2 am going to build a target shed to put the rag target into (for shots under 45 yards) the shed is going to be 6' wide and 5' deep 8' high.
Solar light and battery set right behind the house, when I want to target shoot past 45 yards I'll put the rag target out of the target shed and drop it on my trailer hall it out into the pasture (55 to125 yards or so).
I have 6 or 7 4x8s of 3/4 plywood for the target shed and a bunch of 6' 2x4s
scarfed from work, just need 6 4x4s for the corners and a bundle of shingles
for the roof to do the shed.
Will try to post some pics. when it gets finished this spring.
Turkey season is coming on soon so I may be delayed a bit on wood work stuff.
But will try to do a simple review of the Fast Eddie XL with a 3 pin setup
by this coming summer either way. Maybe it will help others with deciding
on weather to go with the single/double or multi pin sights.
Also looking at getting a 10" front and 8" back stab setup for long range
target this summer. Thanks for the heads up on bee stingers.
P.S. last year I tossed out my plastic hard case drill box that my high speed
drill came in. Now I have a need for it.. a case for the FE xl.
You never toss any thing out before you need it. :-)
Or you store it for years and never use it.

Sounds like you have a lot on your plate at the moment. I ended up buying the pure gold sight from black gold that I mentioned earlier in the thread. So far I've only had the chance to get the 20 yard pin set up. It seems like a pretty solid sight so far. The micro adjust on it is pretty awesome. I can't wait to get it set up and test out the slider part of it. Ill try to do an actual review on it one of these days. But I'm no expert, so it probably won't be a very good review.
I look forward to hearing about your fast eddy. Spot hogg was my other option, I just didn't like their multipin housings. I like that all my pins will stay perpendicular to the string. I shoot without a peep, so it makes it easier to line up my sight. Anyways, let us know how you like the sight, and also how your target turns out.

Trophy Ridge React Pro sight
Has anyone tried the Trophy Ridge React Pro 5 pin sight?
Thoughts as far as a multi pin Sight goes?

the trophy ridge is a nice sight, pins are bright and the react tech really does work and is handy if your going to use two different arrows easy to sight in

Number of Pins
Does the # of pins on a fixed sight (i.e 3 vs 5 vs 7) impact the class an archer is allowed to participate in?

Hunter class used to be 4 pin max, 40 yard max outside and 50 yard inside. Arrow must have screw in tips.
MBR is any number of pins can't move sight after first competition arrow is shot, open is any number of pins and movable (each shot) sight. Arrows for either of these can have glue in tips.
What class do you want to shoot in?

Yeah it is tough to find up to date information. I am trying to decide if I go MBO or MBR as I decide which site to look into. If I decide MBO I would probably go single pin but then I am not sure if I want to go that route for hunting. All these damn decisions....It is fun HAHAHA

For the rules google "Archery Canada rules" I believe it is in book 3 for 3D class rules.
You can get a Spot Hogg sight and quite easily swap between a single and a multi to suit your needs. That's what I use, the bracket on the bow is the same for all the dove tail sights.
I have a fixed pin Hogg-it and a Single Pin Fast Eddie XL, or with the removal of two screws you can flip from a single pin scope to a multipin housing.

Thats great, just printed a .pdf of the book. I have been looking at the spot hoggs, CBE, Trophy Ridge etc. With the Spott Hogg I like that you can change the housing from single to multi. Can you switch housings on both the Hogg it and Fast Eddie or just the Fast Eddie?
Thanks for the info.

The Hogg-it only accepts the multi housing on the bar, but the Hogg-it bar and the Fast Eddie bar will use the same bow mount.
The Fast Eddie you can use a single pin scope or a multi housing.

That makes sense. Thanks. I am going to have to get out there and get my hands on some of the sights to see them first hand.
