Dam,,, I should of made my way down there since I had the time.

Thanks for posting as it looked like a good turn out.

Out-Doors activities matter. Ha.

Been spending endless days lost in the back woods.

I don't think blocking a hundred yards of street in front of the Greenhill made the statement it could have . They should have blocked the highway in front of the pure country.

Permission was granted by town council for the length of 20 Ave. which is the main street through Blairmore. Hwy 3 would be great but unattainable legally.

It is a devastating event for everyone who likes the area but for the local population it is very difficult to stomach. New rules for their backyard that they have enjoyed for generations rammed down their throat ....sickening.

im not sure anygroup who blocks a road actually makes anyone want to support them. No joke if i where to be going to calgary and a pro ohv group blocked the highway for longer than the time needed to pass me a flyer i dont think o would be for it.

See post #6. The mayor/council approved this. They supported the rally. Nothing was "blocked". The road was closed for the rally.

Its the thought that counts. Though they did block the road. Even if you know when and how long it will be doesnt mean that it wont still suck for you. Im more pointing out to the people who wouldnt mind rallys like this to take place on roads tat would cause people more problems.

2x... It's too bad that there are still some people that are like, if it doesn't benefit me then I don't care. But yet it's funny when it does effect them then they feel everyone should support their cause.

Meh. Looks like about 100 protesters. Not enough voters to actually get the NDP to take this serious. I predict by next year this is blown under the table and you guy/gals are Gona be looking for a new area to ride.

Your probably right. By that time the NDP will be on to banning something you enjoy.

This poem strongly relates to this situation.

"First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me."

You'd have given up the first too no problemo bud...

Just joking

It was a nice rally

But unfortunately there's been better traffic jams at Thunder in the Valley.

Just not a lot of people in my opinion. Which is too bad.

Did anyone spot media there?

If that's the best the quad, side by side, dirt bikers can do being that there has to be hundreds of thousands possibly into the millions of owners in Alberta they obviously are not even supporting their own user group. Expecting support from people who don't own or ride them is a pipedream. The Off road community has dropped the ball big time. They have been warned for well over a decade that this stuff will happen. The handful of people and groups who have tried to organize awareness and bring some order to the anarchic mindset of the off roading community have been largely ignored and poorly supported by the same people who should have been most concerened. The same people who are now Pointing fingers and spouting the tired mantra "if we don't stick together we will all fall" It's falling on deaf ears now.

Great job by all!!! Just would like to add, that for the rally's random/open camping should be addressed as well. It is also affected in all these drafts. So even if you don't ride, but love to camp, please show your support. Multi use!!!

I suspect that many stayed home as the drive on the highways was not worth the risk.
I do strongly support their purpose and have written letters to the NDP in their support.

I was not there so just curious, with all those OHV users in one place was there any educational materials handed out or spoken about that would lessen the impact on the area and sensitive headwaters. Keeping to legal trails and crossings etc. Would be a great opportunity to get information out about back country usage as opposed to abuse. Better self-policing and reporting of the crowd that has caused these government steps in the first place.

Yup, these guys have a PR problem they need to deal with, if the have any hope of keeping what they have. TV image of some guy highballing his side by side onto the flat bed truck was impressive.

From what I see only a few are dedicated enough to actively support their cause.

They have ignored other users concerns for two decades, now they grovel for their support .

They've ignored the vision of their own leaders who have been telling them they need to organize and regulate themselves for two decades.

Now they reap what they have sown.

Or its great for the locals who don't support all the folks from the city coming and destroying there backyard every weekend then leaving (while leaving all there stuff there) only to come back next weekend and do it all over again. Sickening.

Guess it depends which side of the fence you are standing on!

Are you under the impression that the locals do not partake of OHV activities?
