Happy hunting

That's a neat way to do it if that is what you want to do but by the time all that fartin around and the deer is loaded I got my deer prepped by the gutless method, loaded and on my way.....average 20 to 25 minutes.....I swear by this method if on your own and you gotta go some distance.....I will also use my calf sled to take animal home if hunting close by.

Default RE: Hoisting Deer onto ATV

For what it's worth...I am a 5'2" mom, and I've been stuck by myself a couple times....I always have a "calf sled" strapped to the back of my quad. Once I take something down, then I gut it and roll it into the calf sled and then use trees to help pull the slide up onto the back (I've used the winch to help). One time I got a big buck (200lb +)...which proved to be tricky that time because he was too big for the calf sled....lol. . I'm with you, I don't take the time to do anything but gut, load and get out. However, my first choice is always to have a hunting partner (who is usually my hubby) in the area....lol

I put a winch over a tree limb and hoist it up and onto the rack.
