We are going up there as well and was told to bring a 4x4 as the road can be unforgiving to say the least.

If the weather is wet the road is not good.

Default Winefred Lake road

I work in the area. The roads are in reasonable shape right now. There is considerable oilfield activity in the area so the roads see the grader pretty often. Last little bit into the lodge can be sketchy. I would bring my own boat if I was you. It should be fine. Good luck fishing!!!

Depends where you plan on launching it at. If your staying at the lodge you should be fine, but going further past the lodge to the public launch it gets hairy. If you are going to the public launch, I hope you have good clearance under your trailer axle...

It is a rough road when dry and can be slick when wet. You are going to have to go really slow and it will bounce you boat around a lot.

Just take your time towing your boat and you'll be fine. The road doesn't get so bad that you can't drive to the lake.

I worked at Christina lake which is a short drive from there and in my experience the road can be crazy bad even at a slow pace. I suggest calling the lodge to find out road conditions before leaving.

One thing I would be worried about is the rocks kicking the tar out of my boat.

Just not worth it IMO, especially if you can rent a boat.

I too pulled my boat into all those crazy places and wound up paying 2500 to get er repainted and that was just the top half that was chipped and scracthed.

Thanks for all the help I will be sure to call the lodge before to check road conditions.I take the boat to touchwood quite often and I definitely have the patience when wet that road can get pretty rough believe it or not.
