sure why not!!
imo, i prefer to have less bells and whistles for a hunting gun. 6 power is probably my favourite magnifacation. 24 is a lot of juice for hunting.
2x to 10x is probably the most useable ranges, and the AO, side focus or other trinkets just cause more grief than gusto.
just ensure there is suffienct clearance betwixt the bbl and the scope bell

6-24 is typically a varmint scope.
50mm objectives result in your mounting the scope too high to maintain a repeatable cheek weld, on the stock.
For 95% of the big game huinting situations a 2-7, 2.5-8, 2.5-10, 3-9, 3.5-10 will be all you need. Most come with no adjustment for paralax, and therefore fall in to the K.I.S.S. relm, and yes simpler is better.
I'd also be a bit pre disposed to suspect the QC, and recoil tollerence on the scope you mention. But then again I could be wrong.
Might I suggest a Leupold VX1 3-9x40, or a Bushnell 3200 Elite 3-9x40, they are reliable to an end, and will run you less than $300.00

On a 30 06 it may last long enough to sight it in,but I doubt it.I was going to send one back for repair fo 10.00s&h you buy the replacement for 14.95 and at that I think they are overpriced. You should spend at least 75%of the price of the rifle on optics.

Not sure I agree with that in all cases. It may be true on some rifles but definitely not on all. I've got a couple 50mm scopes mounted on rifles using medium mounts so the scope sits no higher than a 40mm would. It really depends on the rifle.

I've had some Simmons scopes for nearly 20 years and they are still holding zero perfectly. They do make some real crap but their Aetec line is every bit as good as the Bushnell 3200 or lower end Leupolds in my opinion and their Whitetail Classic line is great value for the dollar.

But I do think that scope is a bit of overkill for a .30-06 hunting rifle. A 3-9 would likely serve your needs much better.
