Default Schmidt and Bender

Finally broke down and ordered a Schmidt & Bender PM2, most cash I have ever spent on a scope got the 3-12 x 50 with 34mm tube and P3L reticle. I hope I'm home to pick up that parcel when it comes in. Gotta be the best if it made the cut for the USMC

2 year warranty on Police and Military models..... Then again, if you can afford one, spending extra $$$$ outside of the 2 year window shouldn't be a big deal. It would be painful if it was hardly used.

Take a good look at the surface finish to ensure it is very uniform and as a high priced scope should be. Also give the interior a visual with a flashlight from both ends looking for contamination.

They were even the best 35 years ago.

You guys have had much better luck then I. Having looked through S&B glass since the 80s, I wouldn't put them ahead of other highend scopes. Contamination, poor QC. Of the highends, they have lacked the value in my opinion but maybe I have a more critical eye or bad luck...lol.

In retrospect, that may have come across a bit harsh, and I would like to retract that statement. My intention is not to offend anyone. I will say though that all opinions should be taken with a grain of salt.

To that end, here is mine.
In my experience, the S&B optics I have used have been excellent. In all fairness though, I am no longer running any of them because I have gone mainly to lighter weight hunting rifles, and S&B optics are not exactly light weight.

Has anyone owned both a S&B and US Optics?
and how do they all compare to a Nightforce
After this hunting season I'm building a long range target rifle
and want the best optics on top..

If you're considering best of the best.. also consider Zeiss' Hensoldt line. Tactical Imports Corp (had.. not sure if it's still on) but did-have a nice discount on them recently. My 4-16 came a few weeks back and mr.man it's sumthin' else..

The Hensoldt's are neck & neck with the PMII Schmidts.. personal preference is all that separates those two in purchase* USMC went the route of Schmidt & Bender.. Germany and numerous European Military go Hensoldt... #1 and #1

Look into them... definitely one to consider (especially pencilling-in that discount)
