Peace River WMU 359
Anyone seen, heard or talked to the biologists as late on how the muledeer and moose numbers are doing in the Peace River region (WMU 359).
We are heading up there this year with 2 cow elk tags and a muledeer draw. Next year we will hope to draw moose once again, as the prioriy has moved from about a 2 to a 5.
Anyways, any feedback would be welcomed. Love the stories and everyone enjoy their hunting season.

Hunted 359 earlier this year and saw a fair number of moose, they seem to be on the upswing.
Mule deer were scarce, and we saw no good bucks. Whitetail numbers appear to be increasing a bit. Elk numbers were okay.
Not sure what else to say.

We only spent four days in 359 but we saw very few mule deer and moose.Elk numbers were better, but still down from a few years ago, before the winterkill.

Well I just got back from the Peace River area this past week (working near the Shell In Situ Plant). I saw lots of deer (mule and whitetail) and I would harvest anyone of them. Not the big boys that most go after but if you are just looking for some meat then there are plenty to shoot at.
Saw two moose. Never seen an elk in that area.... ever

Mule Deer
Thanks for the replies guys, I am happy to hear about the moose sitings. Hopefully, the muledeer numbers can bounce back to where they used to be once. Otherwise, sounds like the elk numbers are still good so guess we will just have to put the work in and beat the bush during the day.
Thanks....

Maybe you already know this, but in case you don't.
The In Situ Plant is east of Peace River. In 926 I do believe.
They are talking about West, over in the Hines Creek area.
Maybe someone else was wondering about 926 though.

359 is on the south side of the Peace river and west to BC border. Mule deer have come out of the woods in the last week or two, havent seen any monsters yet but they will show up. I see 4 or 5 moose every morning, mostly cows and calves. The elk are herded up but seem to be moving more than usual. Seen 60 last week but havent heard of to many cow tags being filled yet. Some friends from Sherwood Park just arrived half hour ago with cow tags so guess we will see what happens.

Just for your knowledge, the Shell Plant is in WMU 523 not too far from the border of WMU 520

Ice Fishing Maniac;
I was not aware of where the borders were.
Thanks for setting me straight. I knew it was somewhere close to that.
