Default Reel Suggestions

After trying out a friends rod a bunch of time I want to pick up a decent starter setup and need a few suggestions on a reel. I'm going to get the St Croix Imperial in a 5wt or 6wt. Any suggestions on a decent reel probably $100 or less to pair it with? I'll be fishing mostly ponds and small lakes/streams. I was also thinking one with interchangeable spools might be nice but not sure if I can get one in the price range.

It's kind of tough to find a good quality reel for under $100 today. But if your stuck on that price I would suggest an echo Ion reel, or the TSX from amundoson, the greys gx 500 as well as the redington surge series reels are pretty deecent too. those are some sweet reals for the price. All depends on what you like though!

Thanks for the suggestions, I'm not exactly stuck on that price range I was just using it as more of a starting point. If I could spend a little more I would to get a decently better quality reel. I'm after more of a better quality for price reel rather than strictly the $100 range. So paying a bit more for a reel that would last quite a while would be great as well.

I just picked up a Sage 1800 series reel for $140, its a great value reel that features a very specific drag and is low maintenance, you should check it out.

The reel I had before was the TSX from Amundson, also a good value reel that I never had any problems with. If you haven't gotten a rod yet, I'd suggest picking up the Amundson Top Fly combo. It includes the TSX reel, top fly rod, floating & sinking line, and a bunch of other stuff. The last I saw, The Fishing Hole in Calgary had this combo on for $170, it was a great begginer setup for me.
