Default Sharkskin fly line

Just a heads up fishing hole has scientific anglers sharkskin fly line 20$ off right now. All there models GPX, Trout, Magnum and saltwater I'm gonna grab some magnum for pike fishing. I hope it's worth the money has anyone use there line before.

It holds dirt easily, but shoots very well.

Casts like a dream but like mentioned before gets dirty easily and holds dirt bad. It does have a bit of noise while casting but didn't bother me at all.

I was washing my line after every second trip out.

I ended up buying a rio gold and giving my sharkskin to a buddy. He used it for half a season and also bought a rio gold. He has the skin on a back up reel but hasn't used it since.

you will see a lot of scientific anglers stuff on sale over the next few months because Orvis just bought them and ross reels out
http://www.orvisnews.com/FlyFishing/...oss-reels.aspx

also any textured line is hard on the guides of your rod it will wear them out over time
and the sound of it when you cast is like nails on a chalk board

Exactly on point.
It shoots fast and slides easy but it gets filled with dirt. Switched to Rio Gold and Rio Indicator, both great lines. (I miss that sound though)

Is this a FACT or just another Internet myth that's been regurgitated to the point that people actually beleive it?
Maybe I'm wrong, but I would think that even dirty Sharkskin with dirt/grit trapped in it would take years and years of casting repeatedly to "wear out" or even damage quality hardened guides? Also guessing the line would be worn out and ready to ne replaced long before any guides would?Do you actually know ANYBODY that's ever had to replace guides,or are ya just keeping the myth alive?

I build fly rods
I replaced stripping guides on 2 rods last year from dirty textured line wearing on guides there was a groove worn into the guides
its not the casting that does it ,its when you have a fish on and the line is screaming through the guides .

I've got the line on a couple of my rods. Definitely casts well. Haven't had any of the other issue yet...

I have it on two reels and really like it. Have not noticed it getting any dirtier than others and it does float high in the water. No wear on guides and I fish just about every day I can, but it is in mountain water, not sloughs. The one thing you will notice is the line is a bit noisier.
