Spey or 2 handed switch rod?

Just looking for some info on what differencez between spey rod or switch rod?

Length, switch rods are typically under 12', usually 10'6" to 11'6" and can be used either 2 handed or single.

Of course all the above information comes from someone who likes to fish rods under 8' and whose favourite rod is 7 foot long.

Spey rods are generally 11' or longer (11' to 16') with a longer handle assembly. Because of the length they are not practicle to fish one handed but are a two handed rod.

Switch rods for most are just small Spey rods, being mostly 11' or shorter (10'6" to 11'+) with a shorter handle length. Switch rods can be cast Spey style or conventional single handed style.

Do you have to change line/ shooting heads for a switch rod. I though that spey is a much heavier line, then a single hand fly line.

Hey man, if you scroll down on this page of the forum and click on spey casting from 5 days ago you may find what your looking for. There was a discussion on almost exacly that question.
