So tonight the girl friend and I were out driving around looking for a deer or 2 So were cruzing down this back road and see 3 deer in this grave yard in the middle of no where. We didn't shot them but was just wondering what is everyones opinion on weather it is right, wrong or illegal to shot anything in a grave yard.

Wrong. Might be a zombie deer and then you are in for a world of trouble.

Private land; and owners would almost certainly not allow hunting.

As for the dead...they are dead. What are they going to do? I would thik, though, that killing an animal in a graveyard would seem awfully disrespectful to the families of those who have loved ones buried there.

In the case of a zombie deer I suggest shooting them in the head. It is a well known fact that that is how you kill a zombie. BUT!!! that being said if it is a big buck a head shot is not recomended incase you break the skull plate in half and make it unenterable to the B&C. Now seeing as you have a deer down that is unmeasureable, does it make sense to risk your life for exibit A the zombie deer..... You can be the judge of that.

On a brighter side there will be no witnesses

Pretty creepy. But I agree with the others, I wouldn't be shooting any deer there. Most likely private property and the mess it could cause would be disrespectful.

When I played ice hockey last winter to save time I took a back road that goes through the bush and comes out to a highway and along the way is a grave yard. Always gave me the creeps, but one night especially when I was going past and just as my truck lined up with the fence my radio cut out to just static. And as soon as I passed the grave yard my radio came back on.

Needless to say I never went that road again, always took the extra few minutes to go around on the highway.

It's actually a pretty good question and the fact you stated you didn't shoot shows you have some respect which I respect. I've had to trap skunks out of ours and nobody complained. A fenced off area in a pasture with grass growing will certainly attract wild life but I know if Aunt Margaret caught me shooting a deer there it would be far worse than me not shooting, which would be my choice too.

Prior to having permission, it would be illegal.
The response to your permission request would likely remove any further ponderance.

Surprised to hear that permission wouldn't be your first consideration.

I love Nube's response, I nearly spit out my tea. A bit of a highjack, but really isn't the whole world or all of nature a graveyard for everything? I actually think graveyards are a waste of land, I'd rather see a park with play equipment for kids and such on the tract of property instead. I think that wanting to occupy a piece of land for eternity is pretty arrogant of humans, especially when they're dead. Temporary plots would be better; a 100 year lease and then the plot goes to someone else; nobody that ever knew that person would be alive anyways. I do make exceptions in this opinion for military graveyards, strangely enough. I think very few of us mortals are worthy of such long term memorials.

Get yourselves cremated and go fertilize something is my opinion.

Thanks to eveyone that put in there 2 cents,I like making people think about dumd things sometimes.I would never shoot a deer in a grave yard just wondering what everyone's comment would be. P.S ******* people that comment just to sound like a dick head should think about what there saying before they say it.Not saying any names (FICKELL)

Good thinking Caber. I always thought a bit the same way. I always wanted to know in 300 years from now what they are going to do as a lot of the land will be covered with dead people. They never really ever marked graves with permanent markers till the last 2-3 hundred years and the way the worls is growing there is going to be a lot of death and dying in the next few hundred. I myself would like to be burried in the mountains with no marker on my favorite sheep hill but my wife says it's too far to walk in to visit me and she is going to say no on that one. Don't think the government would like it as well.

Personally I think shooting a deer in a grave yard is a little disrespectful.

But honestly to those who are judging his/her actual question, that is not your place. There are no such thing as bad questions, just bad answers and commments!

My farm is close to two graveyards.

Each one is checked out by truck hunters every morning.

Not to mention the possibility of putting a bullet in one of the grave markers. I'm sure that would play out well, in the local paper. Once saw a moose in the graveyard on H 2, by Crossfield. They probably love that nice tender grass, this time of the year.

I shot a deer in a feild that was beside a graveyard once. There was a bluff of trees that was between the cemetary and the field. Im sure he lived there for most of his life actually. But right in a cemetary thats a tough one.

If you have a 30-06 I have a couple of silver bullets for you. Funny how deer like graveyards though, I've passed up an opportunity for 2 yrs now.

its a respect thing.. i could not let fly a bullet through a cemetary, although some interesting responses here. I do like the unmarked burial out in the wild idea for myself but to eacht heir own I say.
