Default Rock Lake Report

Decided that going after Lake trout with a flyrod was the thing to do today so we did a road trip to Rock Lake. Post front condidtions with the odd shower and fairly overcast. The lake was pretty placid today with not too much wind. The water was very stained from the two weeks of rain in the area.

I didn't get much luck slow trolling a tandem Gumphus bug rig so I parked myself by a little inlet stream and did some casting . First fish of all things was a pike....on a gumphus bug. That was a first.

Switched things up to a dace minnow streamer and got into a couple of lakers.

Fishing was slow but I just love getting out on this lake.

and if anyone is curious how the road conditions are by the campsite....let's just say a river runs through it..

All time favourite lake. Thanks for the report. Aside from being flooded was the road easily manageable?

Road gravel would make good spawing beds I suppose,, but I somehow doubt egg survival would be very good!!

Looks like fun! The diversity of fish species in that lake is awesome, best of both worlds!

The road in was fine till that spot. I got through with a two wheel drive vehicle, stayed to the middle of the river...er.. road. If the area gets more rain this week it could be intersting on how that patch of the road does.

The road into Rock Lake is a flippin highway compared to the old days.

Any of you fellow geezers remember the goat trail into Rock during the 60's and 70's? That was an adventure in itself.

Corduroy meant more than just a certain kind of pants.
