Default 300 wsm Load

Hey guys my usual load for my 300 wsm browning a-bolt is 69 gr h4831sc with a 180 gr accubond and a cci mag primer. I had some 150 partitions kicking around so loaded up some 150's over 67 grains of w760 and they shot very well. Just wondering has anyone worked up a load using h4831sc using 150 grain bullets? I like using 4831 for its temperature insensitivity. Thanks

There’s likely good reason Hodgdon doesn’t list this powder with 150’s in the 300WSM, the burn rate for H4831 is likely too slow to make using it worthy with 150’s.

The 760/414 will do well enough even if it’s slightly more sensitive to temperature.

Thanks for the reply learned something new today. I'll stick to shooting my 760 with the 150's. Thanks

I’ve had best results with H4350 and RL17. I found W760 and H414 pretty sensitive to temperature changes. For a rifle I use throughout the season, with temperature ranging from +25 to -30, I didn’t want to worry about changes in ballistics.

My rifle likes RL17 with 168 Barnes TTSX.

Load has worked from -25 in Alberta to +30 in South Africa. Game from springbok to eland.

I'm working with something similar right now - getting RL16 to work with 270 win (130TTSX), .260 rem (130ELDM), and 300WSM (165/168 TTSX, SMK, TTSX) is very promising in all three cartridges, which happen to be the only three I load for.

I load 150gn Sierra GK and Sierra MK using W760 67gn and IMR4895 59.8gn.
They give me similar speed 3050fps and 3035fps. Both are accurate loads on my Tikka.
4831SC is too slow. You might be able to get 2900fps at 100% case fill from this powder.

Nice any reason for the 165's over the 180's? Ive had my 300 wsm for probably 15 ish years. I really enjoy it, killed pretty much everything that Sask offers form elk and moose to pronghorn.

I'm at 64 grs of H4350 and 178 ELDX in my Tikka Varmint 300wsm...3 shot groups are under 1/2 inch at 100 meters...

I shoot 180gr Interlocks with h414 out of mine. They run a little over 1/2in at 100 and kill everything they get pointed at

The load I’m shooting is 58.9 gr of H4350 with 180 gr nosler ab in my 300 saum. 3 shots under half inch, 5 under an inch from my load development. Haven’t got a velocity yet but should be around 2880 ft/S.

Found great accuracy with H414 but as mentioned, susceptible to fluctuations in temperature.
Moved to Hybrid 100V and things improved, but if you don’t have any of it on hand to try, I’d go with some of the others mentioned above. Can’t go wrong with H4350 in a WSM
