They had to make up for the tax break they gave to the farmers somehow I guess.

They are going to claw it back now anyway , with a 67% increase....

Wonder how the people that voted NDP/Lib are now feeling about the destruction of Canada ?

OMG!! I would rather smell the "emissions" from a cattle feed lot than I would a chicken barn or pig barn. So why are beef producers targeted but not pork or fowl producers?

It's a tax grab--pure and simple.

Here is the real rub. All the pasture and hay ground is a carbon sink.
We should be carbon taxing politicians who come up with such crappy ideas. Also with all the hot air they expelled they add to global warming.

I release far more methane from beans. Methane for sure which is a greenhouse gas versus carbon dioxide which levels don’t track the natural temperatures.

Therefore if meat is taxed the bean tax should be 10X higher.

Wonder how 5 million buffalo running from a pack of wolves would be degassing and did not cause climate change. Sorry no change is prairies
gas emissions in 10,000 years when meat source changed to cattle.
If you want to reduce methane go after all the natural gas wells with leaking
poorly cemented casings and compressor leaks in gas plants if you want to reduce methane emissions.

The source has the same credibility ... just an opinion piece written by a journalist to fill space.

Default Tax Quebec Dairy Producers

Maybe they need to tax Quebec dairy producers. They have cattle that live longer and produce more greenhouse gases than beef producers. Good luck getting the Liberals to put that one forward.
